AC1900 WiFi Access Point (EX7000) - WiFi limited to ~ 300Mbps

Model: AC1900

Hardware version: EX7000

Firmware: V1.0.1.112_1.0.196

Connection to Existing Network (5GHz)

Region: North America

Channel: 149(P) + 153 + 157 + 161

Wireless mode: Up to 1300 Mbps

Wireless AP: On

Broadcast Name: On

Issue: With a laptop close to the equipment, the WiFi connection is ~ 300Mbps. With network cable connected is 1000Mbps. Same (~300Mbps) connected with cellphones or other devices.

Description: I have a modem/router which has 1000Mbps internet speed. All fixed network cables connected from the modem/router to laptops or PCs, provides this speed approx.

I connected the modem/router with the Netgear AC1900 wifi access point through a Cat6 short cable. Both equipment are one next to the other. Very close. Then I connected again all my devices but now to the 5Ghz connection from the Netgear AC1900, and the speed is downgraded to ~300Mbps.

Additional information: There is no use of FastLane techonology because the modem/router is connected by cable to the Netgear AC1900. Also, the wireless output power is set as 100%.

Why is this happening if my devices are close to the Netgear AC1900?

Do I need to configure something in the Netgear AC900 configuration?

Please your advise as experts will be appreciated.

Thank you,

Ernesto

What is the issue? WiFi devices connect at 300 Mbps and won't go any faster?

      Hi Michael,

      Thank you for your response.

Here are what you are asking:

      Modem/Router Model: GPT-2741GNAC / Router FO HGU Dual Band 2.4 y 5 GHz

What is the issue? WiFi devices connect at 300 Mbps and won't go any faster?

That's correct. But with a fixed network cable in the modem/router connected to any device (laptop/pc) the speed is ~ 1000Mbps

      Thank you!

      Ernesto.

That's a fact of life with wifi. It never matches wired speeds.

The quoted speeds are marketing BS. You won't see that in the real world.

What speeds do you see with these dev ices on different wifi sources. You may find that you get £00 Mbps everywhere you go with it.

It might be worth a bit of background reading.
