Any Advantage to Connecting a Nighthawk X6S Extender to Network via Ethernet?

Just acquired a AC3000 extender and will be setting it up shortly.  In addition to its WiFi setup, I have the option of connecting one of the ethernet ports on the extender to a nearby switch, which in turn hooks up to the rest of my home network.  The question is, does this buy me asnything?  Is there any advanttage to hardwire connecting my extender to the network?
