Connect to Netgear Extender?
i’m sure this sounds like a novice question: I just hooked up a Netgear nighthawk extender. I’ve got four green lights. I can’t find the new extender to connect to. Am I supposed to connect to my home Wi-Fi through the extender, or just using the original Wi-Fi address and password?
Thank you so much in advance

While many questions about routers are generic and could be answered anywhere, some things need specialist knowledge.
You might get more help, and find earlier questions and answers specific to your device, in the appropriate section for your hardware. That's probably here:
WiFi Range Extenders & Nighthawk Mesh - NETGEAR Communities
You might like to search there for messages related to your problem.
I will ask the Netgear moderator to move your message.
In the meantime you could visit the support pages:
Support | NETGEAR
Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware. Look at the label on the device for the model number.
Check for various troubleshooting tips.
You may have done this already. I can't tell from your message.
I mention it because Netgear stopped supplying printed manuals and CD versions some years ago and people sometimes miss the downloads. - plemansGuru - Experienced User
Like michaelkenward says, what extender model is it?
Some are mesh extenders and if setup using wps or the default settings, will use the same exact ssid as the router.
but if its not a mesh extender, it should have a separate ssid.
tough to know without knowing what you have.
