EX6150v2 DHCP Reservation
Hi,
I have the D7000 and extend the network using an EX6150v2. My CCTV cameras connect to the extender and I then monitor from my PC and the TV in my lounge.
The challenge I face is the IP address on the cameras changes from time to time and when they do I can nolonger connect to them using my monitoring software until I reconfigure the software with the new IP's.
How do I set a DHCP reservation for the cameras? The D7000 takes care of DHCP but I can only reserve based on Mac address which the EX6150v2 transmits as a Virtual MAC Address so is the same for all connected devices.
Am I missing sonmething really obvious? 🙂

Re: EX6150v2 DHCP Reservation
Have you tried to reserve the cameras with the virtual mac or with the correct mac address?

Re: EX6150v2 DHCP Reservation
neither so far, as the cameras are not easy to access to reset should I not be able to access them. So I'm looking for advice before I try anything

Re: EX6150v2 DHCP Reservation
Hi @Sepulchre,
You must reserve the virtual MAC address of your cameras, but not the actual MAC address. You can look for it under connected devices of extender after connecting cameras to extender.

Re: EX6150v2 DHCP Reservation
Thanks, but I'm coinfused to how this would work as all deviced connected to the EX6150 appear on the D7000 with the same virtual MAC address

Hi @Sepulchre,
Only the first part will be same. If you check last 6 characters, it'll be different for each devices.

Re: EX6150v2 DHCP Reservation
I checked and the vurtual Mac address is the same for all cameras.
I have an ipad and a PC also being given the same Mac address, although different from the cameras.

Re: EX6150v2 DHCP Reservation
Hi @Sepulchre,
This looks awkward. Do you experince the same issue for devices connected directly to D7000 but not via extender?

Re: EX6150v2 DHCP Reservation
no, devices coonected directly to the D700 show with their MAC addresses correctly and I can reserve IP's for these

Re: EX6150v2 DHCP Reservation
Hi @Sepulchre,
What firmware version are you running on extender now? Look for upgrade if any and see if that helps. If persist, I would recommend you to reset and reconfigure the extender and check.

Re: EX6150v2 DHCP Reservation
I'm getting no where with this...
the two virtual mac addresses given to all devices are those of the 2G and 5G networks, so there is no way I can reserve an IP given the same mac address is shared, this is really frustrating!
