Geeks Core Solutions initiated a chat while troubleshooting
Does anybody know if this is a reputable firm? I got an uneasy feeling after they "helped".
Oh, I paid them $99.99 for the "help".

Hello NcUser
I know nothing about that company but a general rule do not give a credit card to company that you know nothing about alot of scams on the internet.

Yes, thanks.
I paid a stupid tax last week. First, I forgot that the passwords for the Extended bands are the same as the ones on the primary router. Second, the man said that there was a $69.99 charge for "software", I asked what it was and how I could access it - later he changed that to firmware on the extender. I know better - shouldn't have gone on from there.
The uneasiness came from the same voice being identified as Ed, Peter, then Steve. That and being charged for firmware that I just updated myself.
If I can do anything for any reader of this - be cautious of who you talk to. My bank is aware of our cautiousness on this transaction.
Netgear - you don't make it easy for longtime customers to get an easy answer to a relatively easy question. I suspect that I am not the only customer who wishes there was a way without paying for premium service to get simple answers - other companies do.
