How to use Netgear router as an extender?
Yes, it is possible to use a Netgear router as a wireless range extender. This can be useful if you have a big house or office and you need to extend the range of your wireless network to reach all areas.
To use a Netgear router as an extender, you will need to follow these steps:
- Connect your Netgear router to your computer using an ethernet cable and login to the router login page.
- Go to to wireless settings and change the Wireless network name(SSID) and password to match the primary router.
- Go to the LAN setting and change the IP address of the router to an address that is within the same range as the primary router, Bit outside its DHCP range.
- Disable the DHCP server on the network router.
- Go to the wireless setting and enable the wireless repeating function. this function called "Wireless Repeater" or "Wireless range extender" depending on the router model.
- Select the network you want to extend and enter the password.
- Save the settings and restart the router.
Once the router restarts, it will act as a Netgear wireless range extender and boost the signal of your primary router, providing coverage in areas that were previously out of range.
