NETGEAR N300 Wi-Fi Range Extender, Essentials Edition EX2700

I have connected the wifi extender but the Device Link LED was green, then red, and the Device Link LED is not on at all. The extender is working and has green power and wps led lights. I called customer suipport and spoke to a man named "Alex" who apparently is Indian and said that the red device led meant someone was trying to hack the wifi and he was totally useless. Wanted to diagnose the problem. I hung up. Can anyone help me with the answer to my question? Thank you in advance.

The device link LED is an indicator for the device/s that are connected to the extender as described on page 6 of the user manual on this link. That may only mean that your device/s may be moving away/closer to the extender like a smartphone.
