NETGEAR WN3000 question

I hooked my phone and the extender up wps to the router .the extender is hooked up because on my phone it shows my regular network and the my regular network along with the ext behind it but I has a lock on it I wanna know if my phone is hooked to it as well or do I have to put in a pass code to beabke to be on the ext's network how does that work please help me better understand that part of this
