Netgear 3000 extender & Fire Stick

My extender won't connect to my Amazon fire stick. It will search for an IP address for several minutes  but then will say "Avoided poor connection". I have my iPad literally 3 feet from the stick and it and my phone will connect with no problem? Any ideas??
