Powerline PLW1000-2 reset

My husband has been using this model for several years without difficulty. A few days ago, he could no longer log in to the wifi, the error message he received was wrong password. Neither one of us have tried to change the wifi password. I was able to connect directly with ethernet to the box and the internet is still accessible that way. But unable to access the admin to change to a new password.

 

I did some searching, and found I probably would need to do a factory reset, and start from scratch. So I did a factory reset on both boxes, and the SSID did indeed revert to the factory default. But it still is giving an incorrect password, and I've confirmed multiple times that I've used the correct password on the front of the box. 

 

Is there anything else I can try, or is my system likely broke?
