Range extender won't connect to Apple devices

Installed the range extender a few weeks ago and all devices (windows pc, smart tv, etc) work perfectly fine except our iphones and ipads. They see both _2G and _5G but do not connect. Have been going crazy looking for solution. I will appreciate any help. Thanks!
