Report a bug about EX8000 V1.0.1.186 firmware
When the router restarts, EX8000 cannot automatically reconnect the router and must restart EX8000. If you return to the V1.0.1.180 , It' OK.

I did the same thing. I find it more stable, but honestly it is very annoying how often it loses connection. Another bug I see even with the older firmware, is every time the extender restart it doesn’t keep the Wi-Fi settings. I can’t keep the extender from not broadcasting the Wi-Fi. I use my extender as a way to hardwire my Xbox in, but I find more issues when I use the extender to extend Wi-Fi as well. As odd as it sounds I only use the EX8000 as a LAN extension. At least until the connection is more stable with the XR500 router. What happens is the EX8000 creates multiple devices and assigns a different “virtual” MAC address. Making it impossible to assign a IP address or use the XR500 advanced gaming features. Lol I turn all WiFi off on the extender. It is much better than Xbox one x connection to WiFi (router is on other side of house)

I also recommend to turn auto upgrade firmware OFF! The latest firmware makes extender Unusable!

That is a good practice, I go over the release notes to see what has been fixed, but not all fixes are disclosed. Hopefully, someone could release a custom firmware for this unit, but with so many issue right of release of unit, I doubt that would ever happen.

I also downgraded to 1.0.1.180 and it seems more stable. Another thing you want to try is don't set your router to auto select the channels for either 2,4 GHz or 5 GHz. It seem to hold up longer.

I have been running firmware 1.0.1.164 for a while. I upgraded to a newer version back in September (don't remember what it was...may have been 180) but began having issues where the internet would drop repeatedly. I discovered others were having the same issue and it was advised to revert back to 164. Yesterday, I decided to try the newest version, 186. It's exactly the same thing...internet drops repeatedly. My devices then jump on my Netgear Nighthawk X4S router (R7800-100NAS). This bug is ridiculous at this point. C'mon Netgear...fix this already! Going back to 164...again.
