Setting up my new Nighthawk X6

I have just attempted to set up my new Nighthawk X6 Extender with my Virgin Media Hub, using the Android App.  I get as far as detecting the nework, then an error message "Issue connecting with 'XXXX' go to Settings>WiFi and join your router's WiFi network". I did that and I was already connected - tried again no luck, turned everything off and on again - still no luck.  Help! Thanks.

    What virgin media hub? they don't all play nicely with extenders.

    What firmware is on the extender? 

    have you tried hardwiring into the extender and using the installation assistant (pc/laptop)
