Unable to update Firmware - Can't open file on Mac - EX2700-V1: April 2018

Everytime I tried to open the downloaded firm ware update file for my EX2700 N300

my Mac says no way are you opening this file buddy!  I was able to update the firmware 

sucessfully before by right clicking and opening the file.

 

Also I used to be able to open the browser configuration web site at http://mywifiext.local

but now my web browser just continually goes back and forth,trying to open the site but not succeeding. And, it is caught in a vicious loop,going back and forth. Simultaneously it is depleted my Mac's Ram until the brower just freezes up.

 

Any help with the above would be greatly appreciated...!

    Try to log into the extender by going to 192.168.1.250 or if you can find the IP address of the extender in your routers settings use that IP to access the extender.

      Problem solved.

      I was still on my main “ home” network and not on the Netgear extender

      one,so the browser woul not load.

       

      Sorted out my “looping” browser problem.

      So all good again.
