Using two net gear range extenders in series to increase the range

I have a wireless router with an extender connected to it . The signal at the point of use is still not strong. Can I use another extender and connect it to the first to boost the signal at the point of use ?. If so how is it done ?

Re: Using two net gear range extenders in series to increase the range

It's not recommended.  Each range extender cuts Wi-Fi speeds in half.  If you were to wirelessly connect a second range extender, then the speed will drop by at least 75% compared to the main router.  What you could do is wire the second extender to the first via Ethernet.  Then operate the second extender as an Access Point.  It's not ideal but it avoids the second speed penalty.

If you have any coax wiring in your place, then you may be able to leverage it using MoCA.  Wiring whenever possible when extending Wi-Fi coverage.  In order of preference:

  1. Wi-Fi Access Point(s) wired to main router via Ethernet.  Access Points may be wired in series.
  2. Wi-Fi Access Point wired to main router via MoCA.  Access Points may be wired in series.
  3. Range Extender(s).  Do not use in series.  Multiple range extenders may be used but they should always connect to the main router.  Arrange them in a star, with the router in the center.
