WN3000RP & BT Home Hub 5

When try to connect my WN3000RP in to my network everything works according to the set up until the last step. At that point the Netgear Genie tells me " The Extender was not able to connect to your existing network". Can anyone explain what is going wrong or are the two devices incompatible??

Many thanks.

Re: WN3000RP & BT Home Hub 5

Hi APM1949,

When you did the WN3000RP setup, did you checkmark "Use the same security and passphrase as those for the existing network" ?
Can you please confirm which version WN3000RP you have? Is it WN3000RP v1, v2, v3, etc?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Regards,

NhanN

Re: WN3000RP & BT Home Hub 5

Many thanks for your prompt response. I don't think it it is a password problem, I use the same one as for the rest of my home network generated by Windows 8.1 and now Windows 10

The model number is WN3000RP V1H2.

Regards,

Andrew

Hi APM1949,

Are you able to reach this stage of installation?
Once you are at this step, you will need to connect to the new SSID, then click continue.

Re: WN3000RP & BT Home Hub 5

Thanks for your response. It is at that point when I check the box at the bottom I get the error referred to in my first email.

Also, if I connect to the device using the manual setup within Windows 10, I get a connection that shows on the list of available wifi's but it says "limited" against it.

The computer, router and extender are clearly seeing each other but if I go to the home hub and look at it's connections it does not show the extender in the list of devices connected. Other devices such as my TV via ethernet and other wifi devices are all OK.

Regards,

Andrew

Re: WN3000RP & BT Home Hub 5

Hi APM1949,

When you check the box at the bottom and receive the error, it seems that you are still able to connect to the network on Windows 10. Is that correct?
Please try placing the WN3000RP next to the router and test the performance.
How is the connection when you wire an ethernet cable between your device and the WN3000RP?

Are you able to then log into the WN3000RP and access its settings? Can you update to latest firmware?

Regards,

NhanN
