WN3000RPv2 No Internet Connection

Hi
I recently purchased a WN2000RPv2 and have tried to set it up with network which has a BT WiFi Router as the connection to the internet.
The automatic setup of the Extender fails to provide an Internet connection but does obtain a correct IP address (192.168.1.240). On checking the failure is because it sets up the Gateway and DNS as 0.0.0.0 .
The correct setting for BT Gateway should be 192.168.1.254
I have tried setting the address of the extender to a static address (and I've tried several in the correct range) and manually set up the Gateway to 192.168.1.254, and the DNS to the same (or the actual external IP address) but whatever I try it then fails to connect correctly.
Is there any resolution to this/
I have updated to the latest firmware and reset and restarted the extender many times....

How are you determining that this is the cause of the failure?

Unless I am very much mistaken, the extender should work with the gateway & DNS entries at 0.0.0.0 - most extenders will - provided that is not what the client devices are set to.

From a laptop (or other client) connected to the extender, ping, first the extender, and if it responds, ping the BT router - if both respond, check the ip settings on the client and make sure those are correct.
  • I am having the same type issue and the only way I have been able to fix it is the give my WN3000RP a static IP address and give the give it the DNS on the router that is Provided to you by the ISP
