Wifi extender causing dns fail
Hi, I have quite a problem on my hands.
My brother doesnt have a wifi chip in his computer so used a wired connection from the wifi range extender to his computer. However, whenever he uses the extender now it cuts off my connection, and my computer tells me "the dns server is not responding". The only fix we could find for it was if we change our IP's but when we do that our internet becomes significantly slower eg. Ping (which is normally 40) getting up to 200. Are there any fixes for this?

Can you explain exactly what you are doing when you "change your IPs"? That shouldn't affect ping times.
Are you using static address on your network, or are you using DHCP (or a mix)?
Also, what extender model are you using?

So i am having a similar issue?
My WiFi works great in the house but i want to hardline a few things in the living room. So i purchased two WN2000RPTv3's, one for the living room in the middle of the house and one for the office of the house which is on the total opposite side of the house.
I get the extender setup to my network and everything looks to be connected correctly. I am always getting a DNS Name doesnt exsist. Doesnt matter if i am hard line connected or on WiFi with the extender, it will not connect to any page on the internet, weather it be from a computer or cellphone. This is the case with BOTH extenders. I have changed the encryption from my router to every type of setting OTHER than open and it simply will not connect.
Any help i can get to make these extenders work would be AWESOME.
Thanks so much.
