can't connect Nighthawk AC2200 to new Spectrum Wave2 router

I recently exchanged my Spectrum 1-piece modem/router with the new 2-piece 'Wave2' modem and separate router. I can't get the AC2200 extender to connect with this new router via WPS, and my laptop has no Ethernet port. Any suggestions? Is it possible that the AC2200 is not compatible with the Askey Wave2 router?
any suggestions are well recieved. Thanks in advance.

You can still use the smart installation wizard instead of wps.
start off with factory resetting the extender. Push and hold reset while its powered on for 7-15 seconds. Then you can connect to it via the default wireless info on the extender. Use that to run through the smart installation wizard.
here's where the install guide is along with firmware and the manual.

Thanks for the info - that method worked, and I'm up and running!
