not accepting password

I changed my router password so now I need to get the extender working again. I pushed the reset button, went through the set up wizard again and entered the new router password. I completed the set up and all devices can see the extender but the extender won't accept the new password. This is the WEP keycode password, not the router or extender log in passwords. I've double checked the extender set up and the wireless device, I put the same password in both places and it matches the one on the router. Why isn't it letting me log in?

I did check "use the same password." I was able to get into the firmware dashboard. I did everything anyone has ever suggested in the numerous forums I've checked when researching this problem. Then I found it. - in the set up wizard there is a place to enter the router's password - it says "passphrase" with a box next to it (and next to that box is a icon you can click on that says "generate" ) Turns out that is NOT the box in which to put the password. In goes in the box below that says Key 1. Why in God's name that is supposed to make sense to enter the password where it says Key 1, vs the box that actually says "passphrase" is beyond me.

Re: not accepting password
I am having similar issues. The extender found the network (WN3000RPv3). On a mobile device I enter the network password and get an 'invalid password' response. There is no doubt that the password is correct – it's printed on the router label. There is no possibility that I've entered it wrongly (over the half dozen attempts - with 'display password' checked). The connection was made via WPS. I'm using an iMac, OSX 10.10.4 and the ISP is Plusnet via their Technicolor Router.
If I attempt to use the browser to connect to the extender I get a VERY annoying response: "Ooops! It seems you have navogated ot this page by accident." No, I'm merely following the instructions.
I'd be most grateful for a clue or two.

Re: not accepting password
I'm wondering if it might have something to do with resetting the extender. I did a reset, but perhaps didn't hold the reset button in long enough to wipe out the stored password. Not sure, I'll have to try again but I can't get there right now, it's at another office. Did you reset the extender?

Re: not accepting password
Oh, the other thing I am going to try is temporarily removing the password to see if I can connect through the extender when no password is needed. If I still can't connect the problem is something other than the password itself.

Re: not accepting password
Hi Soundbooth,
When you first installed your extender, did you select "Use the same security and password as those for the existing network?
Are you able to log in to mywifiext.net after you completed setup?
Looking forward to your response.
Regards,
NhanN

Re: not accepting password
I have it working now. The installation notes state "... Use the same password that you use for your wifi router." This I did - this was the root of the problem. I see now that there is a need to first see the Netgear genie screen up first - this was not happening, hence I was not able to check 'use same password'. Having done a reset I got a genie screen and the the rest is history...
Thanks for the hints - appreciated. Not responded sooner as been away.
In retorspect the instructions are fine if all works from step one but unless you know what is supposed to happen post sep one you'll not knw if it has gone wrong.
