My R9000 has the latest firmware (V1.0.2.40), but 5GHz radio not functioning. The 5GHz radio is enabled within the Wireless Settings menu, with SSID enabled and no schedule, but 5GHz signal does not appear available. LED reflects 5GHz radio is working, but Advance tab in menu reflects disabled. No SSID is showing available to any 5GHz clients. Also, I have a R7000 within the environment, which the 5GHz radio is functioning properly and showing accessible by 5GHz clients within the environment. Any ideas why this radio is not functioning?Solved3.9KViews0likes5CommentsR8500 5GHz band 1 does not work.
I have had the r8500 since early December. Today, as I noticed my laptop in a certain spot had jumped to the 2.4 band as opposed to the 5GHz, I decided to see if maybe one of the 5GHz channels was better than the others. I turned on Netspot Reporter and noticed that there was only one 5Ghz band, the upper one, #153. There was no display for any 36-48 lower 5G band. I always had the 5 ghz set on smart connect, so I disabled Smart Connect. Changed to unique names on the bands, all are active SSID. Reboot roouter. Reboot computer. Still no lower 5G channels. I have no idea if this lower 5G ever worked even out of the box, as I always had smart connect since initial set up. No devices can see the lower 5G channel, though in the router login, it's active, displaying SSID, and unique name. Please help with any ideas. R7000 Windows10 / Android Firmware = 1.0.7.2 Modem = 192.168.0.1 Router = 192.168.1.1 (R7000) Hi I had a horrible weekend getting my R7000 to work again after replacing the modem from the ISP. Problems started when my new Modem was acting as a DHCP server during initial setup. When I switched that off, my R7000 would not serve IP addresses to machines that previously received an IP from the modem. I got these errors on the clients : “An error occurred while renewing interface Local Area Connection : The name specified in the network control block (NCB) is in use on a remote adapter.” Unfortunately, there is no way to reconcile the DHCP database on the R7000. So I ended up loading the latest firmware again and factory resetting 2x. In the end I got most of it to work again, except the 5Ghz band. When a client tries to connect to 5Ghz, I see a 'DHCP IP' in the log of the R7000 every 10 seconds but the client will not connect. Clients that I tried were Nexus 5 and Nexus 7. Tried changing the channel on the R7000 (44 / 48 / 100) the setting is for Europe. There is no problem connecting to the 2.4 Ghz band. What can I do besides factory resetting again and again?Solved3.9KViews0likes4CommentsNetgear Nighthawk R8000 5GHz channel loses internet connection
When connecting to the 5GHz channel on my Nighthawk R8000 my devices will conenct to the internet for a while but the internet will suddenly stop working and the router will need to be rebooted again. This doesn't happen when connecting to the 2.4Ghz signal and even though the 5Ghz channel isn't working if I switch my device to the 2.4Ghz channel it'll continue using the internet without any issues. I have tried using the "Smart Control" option both off and on. And I have tried a number of different channels for both 5GHz-1 and 5GHz-2. Thanks for any help. Router Firmware: V1.0.3.4_1.1.2Solved4.6KViews0likes4CommentsR7000 v1.0.5.48 breaks 5G in Operation Mode:Access Point
Updated firmware to latest version (R7000-V1.0.5.48_1.1.79) and the 5Ghz radio was no longer working for main and guest networks. The 2.4 GHz radios seemed to still be working properly. I did not spend the time to see why it wasn't broadcasting for a longer period of time by running Kismet with a WiFi card in monitor mode. However, I have several devices that could no longer see anything in the 802.11ac / 5GHz spectrum that in my configuration, was normaly being broadcasted from the R7000 router which is running in AP mode. On a hunch, as I was pretty sure the firmware upgrade broke the 5G radio, I then downgraded back to the firmware version I was running prior to upgrade (R7000_V1.0.4.30_1.1.67) and all was well again. Again, I am running in Access Point mode so I am not sure if other modes have this same bug. This was very frustrating, but I was glad I could roll back this update and regain my previous functionality despite not being able to keep current with the firmware.Solved6.3KViews0likes11Comments
