8 TopicsBonding/VLAN bug in 6.6.0
I have found a UI bug (IMO anyway) with the Network/Bonding/VLAN setup in 6.6.0. First the disclaimer (caveat): This is running on a modified, unsupported (ancient) Pro Pioneer, upgraded with a 3.0 GHz E7600, 2GBytes 1333MHz DDR2, VGA connector, fan mods., etc. The only non-factory build APP installed is linux-dash. None of this has anything to do with the bug, but I don't want to be accused of leaving anything potentially important out, so... Note: Full details below, FYI only. Attached is a pic. that should say it all! While playing around with various bonding modes (lots of reboots with a single NIC attached to recover admin control), I now have lingering "bonds" with a single NIC (eth0 or eth1 ONLY). I can't delete them, change the settings, add a VLAN to them, or in any way modify them (just want them to go away!) Anything I try results in a crash dialog popup. The correctly bonded "bond0" works fine, as do VLANs added to it with higher IDs than the stuck 1-NIC "bonds". BTW: If anyone is curious, the E7600 is pretty fast! Even running maxed-out at a fairly well sustained 110MBytes/sec. I never see CPU throughput hit over 50%. I'm pretty sure the old Seagate 1TB ES drives (7200 RPM, built like tanks!) aren't the bottle neck either. In my case it's clear (again IMO) the NICs are the limiting element. As has been explained before, due to the way bonding/teaming is implemented (even with LACP, 802.3ad thru 2+3 mode), it's hard to see increased net throughput via bonding, even with static LAGs, VLANs, a fast external network (4 teamed, i350 server NICs on a Windows Server 2016 TP5 server box, Z170 chipset, 6x 4TB WD Red/5200 RPM "NAS" SATA-III, 6Gbit, overclocked i3-6300), and a fast Layer 2+ smart switch ( NG M4100-D12G). It is especially diappointing that LACP mode 3+4 (supposed to load balance on xmit from a single client) doesn't appear to work in 6.6.0. I see the following in dmesg.log: bond0: Setting xmit hash policy to layer3+4 (1) bond0: option primary: mode dependency failed, not supported in mode 802.3ad(4) Kernel log FYI on E7600: Oct 07 12:08:31 SIMATH_NAS kernel: smpboot: CPU0: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E7600 @ 3.06GHz (fam: 06, model: 17, stepping: 0a) Oct 07 12:08:31 SIMATH_NAS kernel: Performance Events: PEBS fmt0+, 4-deep LBR, Core2 events, Intel PMU driver. Hello After this RN102 was updated to 6.6.0 we sometimes have SMB access problems. This device is powered down every day using the internal timer service and is powered UP every night for backup purposes. Most of the time the readynas works all right but from time to time, no SMB access is possible. I have to connect to the GUI and go to parameters and I see there the SMB button and of course it is grey. I have to turn it to ON and it turns to green. SMB is operational then and the shares are available from the Domain. I cannot find any problem in the logs (smbd log says: STATUS=daemon 'smbd' finished starting up and ready to serve connections) This Nas uses AD for users and is connected to a very small domain, it has no add-ons, no cloud, and no exotic parameters, tested with or without antivirus, Only internal scheduler is used every day for shutdowns on power up. Have you any ideas of the problem and how to fix it, I don't want to revert to earlier OS as this is too much of a hassle. I cant sent the logs if needed. Thanks for help.2.8KViews0likes11CommentsRN102 no longer starts up following failed update to FW 6.6.0
Hi, hope someone can help. I got a notification to update my firmware which I did, it then initiated a second update which was to 6.6.0. I don't think I'd updated for some time so it had to update to an earlier version first. The second update never completed, the power light just continued to blink slowly for over an hour until I decided to restart it by removing the power. It now does the same thing, power light blinking slowly. I've tried USB updating to 6.6.0 using a memory stick that has definately worked in the past for a firmware update on this device. As the 6.6.0 udate didn't seem to complete I tried the 6.5.2 update too but no change. When trying the perform the update the lights on the RN102 flash rapidly and the USB stick shows acticity briefly then stops. Any suggestions would be much appreciated, I use this for NAS for work so I'm in a bit of a predicament! Thanks in advance for any help.Solved4.4KViews0likes2CommentsRNExtras.com - WhoCares / Are you going to update your NZBGet for 6.6.0?
As the title suggests, I and many users are wondering if you will update your NZBGet package to maike it work with 6.6.0. We currently have you and one other Dev Myhnlo that have old version of the app but no one has come forward with a new package to work with the new OS update. I see you charge for your packages on your site and it is still up, so you must be somewhat active and at least still selling/coding? We are all willing to pay you something for your efforts to get the package working with the new OS as there are no other options for all of us ReayNAS users. As a suggestion, you should also add a note about the current version you have posted not being compatible as it doesn't work with 6.6.0 We all look forward to your response or update! Thanks!2.7KViews0likes3CommentsUpgraded to 6.6.0 and am now having performance issues
After upgradiing my firmware to 6.6.0 access to my netword raid is almost unusable. We have a pretty stable network with a small user base and have tried different forms of access to the raid via network in order to scratch off issues related to any of the work stations. I read that there was a similiar issue when version 6.4.1 was released, but that seems to have been taken care of on version 6.5.0. Any thoughts?Solved3.7KViews0likes8CommentsReadyNAS 104 Firmware 6.5.2 to 6.6.0 Issues (Share Access, SMB Disabled)
Hello, I'm having some interesting issues occuring on my ReadyNAS RN104 after attempting to update from Firmware 6.5.2 -> 6.6.0 The firmware was updated via the admin portal, i.e. not a manual upload of the firmware. I received an email suggesting the NAS was rebooting. After 30 minutes of no response / ping from the 'NAS I went to investigate. The LCD Panel had the "Rebooting, See you soon" message, however no activity appeared to be occuring (idle disks, link lights steady, status light solid). I bit the bullet and power cycled the NAS. When it powered up it showed version 6.6.0 so just figured I got struck by a reboot hang that seems to be historically common with the RN104's. However I began to notice the following: I could not access my Share folders anymore. The admin portal attempts to open/expand the folder, however it fails and just loops back to the top level screen. I also cannot mount to the shares using SMB. I also notice the user and group owners for file permissions have been reset to "guest" for all shares. Share permissions seem to be the same, but no impact on access, even changing to allow "Everyone" access myNETGEAR acount suggests my NAS is offline, hinting communication has gone funky somewhere. readyCLOUD app suggesting a similar status Reading some forum discussions on similar issues I did the following: Removed the NAS from myNETGEAR account. Disconnected my readyCLOUD account and rejoined. NAS is now appearing as ONLINE. Reset the "admin" user account - aka re-apply the same password to the account. I can now access the shares correctly and see the data inside. However I can't access the shares via the readyCLOUD app or via SMB. That's when I notice the SMB service is turned OFF ! Any attempts to turn the SMB service back on fail. The system sits there thinking for a while but after it refreshes the GUI the service remains OFF. I have attempted a manual update (upload firmware) of 6.6.0 as well as the Reinstall OS Boot Menu option. Neither have been succesful. :( Am I staring in the face of a Factory Reset?4.9KViews0likes16CommentsSqueezebox Server after Update Firmware 6.6.0
HI Together, I have a ReadyNAS204 with the Squeezebox-Mediaserver for my Squeezeboxes (SB). After the firmware update to 6.6.0 the Server unfortunately no longer works and is not longer offered in the application galarie for a new download. Does anybody know Netgear will support the server in future? Or is there any opportunity to setup the SBs with a alternative Server? THX Tobi
