I was excited to see I could put parental controls on the Orbi, but then after loading Circles app and trying to enable it said it didn't work in AP Mode. As I have a router from my ISP that also provides cable TV I have to use their router in order to see the TV Listings that come in through the Coax connection on the main router. any ideas on how I can resolve this inability to use parental controls? P.S. Orbi works well, but disappointed with the limited features to manage on the unit via Admin - many more on the cheaper FIOS router.Using mac adress filtering in WIFI AP mode
Hi, I just installed the ORBI50 system to my network. As I use an untangle firewill/router, I need the Orbi to act as an access point. I installed the system as access point and that seems to work. For security I wanted to use mac adress filtering as I did in my previous setup (on topo of a WPA password obviously). However I can't find the setting to do this anywhere in AP mode? Can someone help me out with this please? Thanks, DavidGuest isolation in AP mode works on latest firmware...almost (tl;dr IPv4 is OK, IPv6 not so much)
The good: Things work like you'd expect - you can reach the Internet but nothing on the local network except DHCP and DNS. The bad: If your network has IPv6, it completely bypasses isolation. Netgear, thank you for putting the effort in to get this right for IPv4, but please don't forget it's increasingly an IPv6 world out there. Please add proper isolation for IPv6 in the same manner you already are for IPv4. RodneyWhy ever use Orbi AP mode?
Hello. I have been generally pleased with my Orbi on AP mode - good wireless coverage etc. But I would like to be able to isolate certain devices on the guest network, and it seems not possible in AP mode. Why not just switch back to router mode? My Orbi router is currently plugged into a cable modem/router (with wifi disabled) from RCN (my cable provider). I suppose I would have 2 LANs, but if the only thing on the cable modem's LAN is the Orbi router, what problems will I have? Thank you!
