I needed to reset my EAX80 Nighthawk AX8. I pressed the reset button for 7 seconds and after I let go, the router rebooted. By the fact that my SSIDs were no longer transmitting and a new SSID NETGEAR appeared, I believe it reset fine. Problem is that I cannot connect to it to reconfigure it. I have attempted to connect to it with my cell phone after disconnecting from my normal WiFi and turning off mobile data. Most of the time the cell phone says Connecting, No Internet, Saved. Once in a while it will remain connected, but my Nighthawk app will not find the router. Most times, the cell phone has disconnected. I have plugged the the Ethernet cable directly into my PC (Windows 11) and attempted to open the IP of my default gateway 192.168.1.230 but the web browser says no page found. I have used the AX8 as a hub and attempted to open the web page. No page found. I have also attempted to use my laptop (Windows 11) and attach to the NETGEAR SSID but still cannot keep a connection and cannot open the IP when it does stay connected. Any other ideas?4.1KViews0likes8Commentsnighthawk app can't modify settings when nighthawk cax80 modem is offline
My cable modem (with wifi router) CAX80 can connect to the internet over the coaxial cable. The Xfinity tech came over and set up the connection. I decided to take the modem offline in order to change the settings on the WiFi router. I prefer changing the WiFi settings before turning the WiFi on. I have the nighthawk app installed on my Pixel 6 - I was able to log on to the router using an ethernet cable - however, when i start changing the password and security questions, it will not save the new data. The error message says that the routerlogin.net/..... site is unreachable. I also tried logging into the router using my PC, with the same results. I can get to the page for changing the password. Saving the information does not work. As a last resort, I logged onto the router using WiFi. It asked for the serial number, but on the next page, I got an error: http://192.168.1.1/goform/PwdRecCheckserial?id=.... is unreachable. Do I really need the connection to the internet in order to access/modify the router settings ? Thanks.Solved1.8KViews0likes1CommentAX8 Nighthawk drops signal strength for no reason
So my AX8 will just drop the strength to all of my devices for no reason. I noticed it more since i began streaming games from my PC to my iPad. I checked the the signal strength in the app to my devices and it was one bar on everything (all wifi devices though show strong connection on the devices themselves). I found that doing a speedtest kicks the router in the butt and seems to get things back to a tolerable level for a little bit. See the screenshot to see the before, and then immediately after running a speedtest. Any ideas?1.4KViews0likes5CommentsCAX80 test speeds

So I complete a firmware update yesterday and now the system can't recognise the 2.4 and 5 G wifi. I also have many smart devices connected and now they don't connect properly. I see a new smart setting which will allocate devices to which wifi they will connect to but this does not work either. firmware version V1.0.5.126 APP version2.10.5.17 Any ideas as I can't get support from Netgear.1.9KViews0likes5CommentsImages slow to load early morning
Images on my Facebook newsfeed slow to load early in the morning. Typically 5am - 8am. It happens sometimes during the day, but only for a few minutes. Is it most likely Fios, or Nighthawk? When I do a speed test on my iPhone while it’s happening, internet download speed is about 60-80 mbps. Should be at least 200mbps503Views0likes0CommentsX8 R8500 + EX8000 or Orbi AX6000? Which is best?
I currently have an X8 R8500 but we still have some dead/weak spots in the house so I have a few questions for those more familiar with Netgear. Will the EX8000 work with my X8 R8500 to extend? How about the EAX80? Would it be better to get the Orbi AX6000? What would I gain or lose between the Orbi AX6000 vs the X8 + EX8000? How about the EAX80 instead of the EX8000? I am always up for upgrading but the Orbi price tag is a bit steep. At the same time, I'm concerned about losing some usability with the consequences of the backhaul using the R8500 + EX8000 set up. I'm guessing that one of the 3 bands gets taken up for backhaul tasks. The EAX80 is listed as dual band so it seems it would be even more impacted. I know I could run CAT 6 for the backhaul but that wont be an option for a while and may not be an option for some areas. I have read up on these mesh systems and extenders a bit but I'm just not sure how these in particular would work together and how it would compare to the Orbi AX6000. If keeping the R8500 and extending off of it with one of those extenders didn't cause a reduction in services and I'm not missing much by not taking the opportunity to upgrade to the AX6000 I would consider keeping it. If the AX6000 was enough pure improvement, I would consider it. Your thoughts, opinions, and education are greatly appreciated.2KViews0likes4CommentsNighthawk RAX80 very unstable - losing connections
Hi all, I've bought the RAX80 six weeks ago and it's been very unstable since then: - devices losing wifi connections - devices not seeing the wifi network - RAX80 losing internet connection (orange led) I did resets to factory settings several times (with rebooting modem, RAX80 and all the connected devices). I only use default settings now - with Smart Connect enabled. No extra wifi6 settings like MU-MIMO. But nothing works. After a few days all the problems above come back again. I'm very disappointed in this 300 euro router. In times like this with working at home en schools closed losing wifi and internet connections is very frustrating. Is there something I can do about this problem - except for returning the RAX80? ThanksRAX70 Smart Home, DoS attacks, WiFi speed issues
I've had a ton of issues with this router which is actually the RAX70 tri-band model. The one they said would resolve early issues with the RAX80. There are constant issues keeping smart home devices connected to the router. These include: LIFX bulbs (both older and newer models), Dyson Fans, Roomba vacuum, Litter Robot, Petkit feeder, Wemo smart plugs, Withings scale, HP Tango printer, etc. The smart home devices show up in the Nighthawk App but show a link rate of N/A. With the recent update to the app, it now shows these devices as offline. I've tried going with factory settings, adjusting recommended settings like OFDMA, 20/40 coexistence, WMM & QOS for airtime fairness, channels 1, 6, & 11 as well as lowering speed from 600mbps on 2.4 network, disabling smart connect. I've tried what seems everything in the book to get this router to work, and nothing works longer than an hour to keep the devices connected. I also experience the DoS Attacks constantly throughout the day. Yes, I know the false flags on port 443 from Amazon, Facebook, Apple, etc. These are present but there are also attacks from unknown locations in Germany, Hanoi, Canada, Netherlands, & more using ports like 59, 80, 179, 1338, 2222, 8000, 10009. My WiFi speeds on WiFi 6 devices like iPhone 12 Pro's download speed will plummet to 12mbps. Pretty bad considering I have gigabit Verizon Fios. And sometimes it will kick our iPads off wifi. Armor has been enabled & disabled with no effect on the issues. Factory Resets work for about 10 minutes. I ensured to not use any channels on the 5ghz bands that conflict with nearby airports. The router is out in the open and can be seen from most of the condo except the bedrooms. I'm seriously at a loss of how to fix the issue. Anyone seen this before or know how to resolve it? It's a bummer to think I might have an almost $300 paperweight bought a couple months ago. This is my first time using netgear and it's not enticing me to want to stay in the future if this is how it is with zero support options past 30 days. Slow speeds across devices, and all the constant DoS attacks below. These are all from the last hour.
