I'm trying to connect my shiny new Nighthawk to Alexa. Alexa keeps saying that she needs for the skill to be connected to Netgear. She sends a card referring me to netgear.com/alexa. My firmware is up to date (Version V1.0.2.10_10.0.29) The Netgear app is working just fine on my Android phone. The Amazon skill says that my Netgear account is linked. Step 1 of netgear.com/alexa advises us to enable remote access on your router using Genie. Is this my missing link? Using routerlogin.net (to access advanced settings), I interpret this as checking "Turn Remote Management On" in Advanced> Advance Setup > Remote Management. Is this correct? Did I miss something?Solved3.7KViews0likes2CommentsAlexa in AP mode - easy workaround
I’m fresh owner of Orbi and I was a bit disappointed that in AP mode I cannot use Alexa for enabling/disabling guest network. Even enabling in Netgear Genie the Remote Managemet it doesn’t work. In web interface is the option disabled...??! After searching net for a while I did not find any solution how to fix it. Maybe this helps to someone. Im not sure whether is some better remedy for this out there... After an hour looking under the Orbi’s hood I found easy workaround. Because service is running and is connected to AWS we need to enable RM. I have no idea why Netgear disabled this option in AP mode...?! Howto: Open in browser: http//your-orbi-router-ip/remote_fail.htm After warning page the “Netgear’s disabled” remote management page will be displayed. Tick “Turn Remote Management On” checkbox then click APPLY button and enjoy your Alexa. Btw: running latest fw at RBK40, but it should work on anyAmazon Alexa
When I connect my Netgear router to Amazon Alexa Wi-Fi, it tells me that the connection to Amazon-44P 2 has no security and would be easy for a hacker to get access. I have Bitdefender Anti-Virus software and it recommends that I use it's "hotspot" to connect. I activated the "hotspot" within Bitdefender and it shows as being active, but I cannot connect my Amazon Alexa to it. I try to connect it to my Netgear71 wi-fi and I still get warned about the no security. Is there a way I can get the Alexa connected to my Netgear wi-fi?Solved
