C6300 can't connect

I have a similar problem with a few twists using a C6300 under Windows 10. I was having connectivity issues with an application and one of the suggestions was to alter the NAT passthrough which I wasn't sure about but decided to set the router mode to NO. That turned off Wi-Fi but I was still able to access the internet with Google but couldn't connect to the router using 192.168.0.1. So I did a factory reset hoping to reload the config file I had saved a while ago. No change even after power-cycling the router/modem. I tried most of the suggestions above including ipconig /all and trying to connect 192.168.1.1 as well. So I'm at a loss as to how to reconfigure the C6300. I tried Netgear Genie but it can't find the C6300 either. I guess the factory reset doesn't reset the router mode back to YES, which seems strange.
