3 Topicsreplacing Fvs336GV2 with SRX5308 - configuration issues
I purchased an SRX5308 Firewall to replace my FVS336GV2 so I can process faster internet speeds. I thought I had correctly configured it and it was running well for about 23 or 24 hours. All of a sudden, I started having miscellaneous machines dropping internet connection. In some cases it helped to diable and the enable the network adapter but this doesnt always do the job. All the PC's are connected through a Dell managed switch (currently in "unmanaged" mode. I don't have a lot of experience with firewalls... I have both firewalls still and have swapped them back and forth. The FVS works fine but maxes at 30 Mbps while the SRX handles my full 100Mbps. Can anyone tell me what to look for? All machines are on DHCP and hard wired through the switch. Thank you in advance1.4KViews0likes2CommentsConfiguring R6300v2 and FVS318Gv2 for home wired and wireless network
I need to set up a wired (Ethernet) and wireless (WIFI) network in my home with ADSL Internet service. I have a separate modem (TP-Link) connected to a wired router (FVS318Gv2) in a media cabinet. One of the 8 ports on the FVS318Gv2 is connected to a R6300v2 which at this time is only wireless (no devices connected to its Ethernet ports except the feed from the wired router). This network 'works' but my Internet service provider is not very reliable; I lose the Internet about once a day or so usually for short periods (in minutes). After losing the Internet the network doesn't find it again and I have to perform a hard reboot of the modem and wired router (not the wireless) to access the Internet on any of the devices. The other problem I have with the present configuration is I can't print on my wireless printer unless the device feeding the printer is also wireless. That is, a computer connected to the network using wired Ethernet cannot print a document. I have tried several configurations (such as WAN-LAN and LAN-LAN, and several IP address scenarios, etc.) but none are satisfactory. I can remove the FVS318Gv2 from the network and run completely wireless and the network is stable and is able to recover from loss of Internet with no human intervention however the load on the WIFI is too much and I have a very nice FVS318Gv2 that isn't being used. I would think that what i am trying to setup is a commonly used home network and it would seem to me to be straight forward but I can't seem to make it perform reliably. Can someone point me to a document that gives me details (router settings and IP addresses, DHCP, etc.) on how to set this up? I have found some generic setup instructions on setting up a similar network on the Internet but these suggestions performed worse than the configuration with the two problems discussed above.3.8KViews0likes5CommentsFVS336GV3 Services Have Dropped (HTTPS admin interface, DHCP)
We have a FVS336Gv3 at work. We have been having a very hard time getting people's devices connected over wifi as well as a hard line. It may take 5 minutes to acquire an IP, or as long as half an hour or several hours. Basically, people can't do work from the office sometimes. We use the built-in DHCP server, and recently expanded the top of our DHCP IP range from 10.10.0.255 to 10.10.1.255 (please forgive me if I'm off by one). Today I resorted to going around and setting static IPs on people's laptops just so that they could work. We're an 80-seat office, which means that on top of network devices, printers, and smart TVs, if each chairr has wifi, eth0, a phone and another device, we'll have ~350 devices connected. I've noticed that sometimes the admin interface won't load at all. If the login page doesn't time out, it won't always get past authentication. It almost seems like the device can't handle the traffic. Packet captures using Wireshark show that devices send multiple DCHP Discover requests and Request requests repeatedly. I copied the config over to a brand new identical FBS336v3 last night, and made sure that the firmware was upgraded, so I know that the issue is not limited to just that one piece of hardware. Are we maxing-out this firewall/router? Is there another reason that this device would have terrible response times for HTTPS and DHCP requests? Does this sound like something in the confg. is jacked up?3.7KViews0likes2Comments
