ReadyNas Pro 6 - upgraded fans sound like jet engine
Running OS 6.7.5 took the plunge and upgraded like williams_nest: https://community.netgear.com/t5/Using-your-ReadyNAS/CPU-and-Fan-upgrades/td-p/948507 and walshlink: https://community.netgear.com/t5/Using-your-ReadyNAS/RNP-6-w-Xeon-CPU-and-upgraded-fans/td-p/1022747 and others Previous config E5800 CPU Stock Comdell Crown AGE08015B12V CPU fan Stock Comdell Crown AGE12025B12M System fan Previous idle CPU 1757 RPM, 51C (124F) System 1081 RPM, 56C (133F) Disks 37-39C (96-102F) Upgraded the CPU, cleaned out the filthy dusty heat sink, replaced thermal paste with Arctic Silver 5 Current config X3230 CPU Noctua NF-R8 Redux-1800 PWM CPU fan Noctua NF-F12 Industrial iPPC 3000 PWM System fan Current idle CPU 620 RPM, 35C (95F) System 2636 RPM, 38C (100F) Disks 27-28C (80-82F) Impressive cooling ability-- my only disappointment is this thing sounds like a jet airplane taking off... even in "Quiet" mode and idling.
