1 TopicOS 6.9.0-RC1 warning about dissimilar drives
One of the drives in my "sandbox" system (Pro2 with latest beta, currently 6.9.0-RC1) died (I use ones with higher SMART errors removed form other systems, as much as anything to see if the new OS versions handle them well) and I replaced a 7200RPM 2TB drive with a 5900RPM one. I got a warning from OS6.9.0-RC1 about using dissimilar drives, recommending I replace the 5900RPM one with another 7200RPM. I know I have mixed drive types in the past and did not get this message, but I don't recall what OS version(s) I have done it under. I have never seen anything before warning about this and, in fact, have seen posts in this forum that it's not a problem. I may have given that advice myself. Is there some new compatibility issue with the firmware, or maybe the newest hardware, that caused this to be added? Or maybe some of the lost volume issues reported here (way too many for supposedly stable OS releases, IMHO) have caused Netgear to re-think their position? Is this warning going to be added to the documentation?
