Drops Internet Connection
1 TopicFVS318N firewall/router/switch/Wi-Fi keeps disconnecting from available Internet service at midnight
My Netgear FVS318N firewall/router/switch/Wi-Fi keeps disconnecting from available Internet service at midnight every night. Here is my setup. My service provider is AT&T Uverse which provides a gateway device that includes a modem, router, switch, and wi-fi. The gateway LEDs indicate when there is an Internet connection, and I use the gateway's Wi-Fi for my mobile devices. This gateway has limited capability to open ports for remote access to my security cameras, so I configured it pass my public IP to the switch port that feeds internet to my Netgear router. The Wi-Fi access point in my netgear router is disabled/turned off. I only use the wired ports. So, to summarize so far, I can easily verify if I have an Internet connection by looking at status lights on my AT&T gateway, or by accessing Internet addresses through my phone. The Netgear router usually works fine all day until almost exactly midnight every night. Then, it drops wired connectivity to the Internet and the Internet access indicator light goes out. But I still have Internet connectivity on my phone which is talking to the Wi-Fi radio in the AT&T gateway. So, to summarize again, over and over again, Internet connectivity is verified available and remains available at and after midnight, but the Netgear drops the connection. When the Netgear loses connectivity, I have often turned the Netgear off and on, after a couple of minutes, I again have Internet connectivity and the Internet access light illuminates. Then a few minutes later, connectivity and the indicator light go back out. I have repeated this process often, the same result, the Netgear keeps dropping it's connection to the Gateway which continues to provide uninterupted Internet service. Eventually, I quit trying and go to bed. By the time I wake up a few hours later around 6 or 7 in the morning, the Netgear has a stable connection. Again, the available/functioning wired connection is drops every night at midnight. I have the latest 4.3.5-3 firmware on my Netgear, the Netgear is set to operate continuously, no schedule is set for connectivity. I think this defect may have been occuring ever since the router was installed, but didn't notice it at first. I have a hardware lifetime warranty, customer support has expired, though. Any ideas how to fix this?4.2KViews0likes3Comments
