Enabling dynamic QOS on R7000P causes internet to disconnect
I've had this router for a month. For the most part, it works fine. But I've been noticing random lag spikes and disconnects while playing World of Warcraft (my wife gets them too, seemingly at random, and never at the same time they happen to me, even when we're both playing WoW together). Both of our PCs are on wired connections to the router. Per recommendations from the battle.net forums, I tried to enable Dynamic QOS on the router to see if that would help with the issue. However, as soon as I enable & apply Dynamic QOS (prompting a router reboot), all internet connectivity drops, and stays off after the router finishes rebooting. I can still access the router configuration, thankfully, but at that point all I can do to restore internet connectivity is turn Dynamic QOS off and reboot the router again. I would try Advanced QOS instead, but I can't find that anywhere in the router configuration. If it helps, I have Comcast Xfinity 100Mbps (speedtest.net says ~115Mbps upload, ~6Mbps download) using my own Motorola/Arris SURFboard SB6121 modem. I'm using the latest firmware (1.0.1.14). I can't find anyone else here or elsewhere reporting this problem. Any ideas?Solved34KViews0likes11Comments
Netgear R7500 & R7500v2 need updated SSL Key in a firmware update
No this is not a "feature request" posting, but another highlight of Netgear not being ontop of their own "active" (not EOL) product line. The original Netgear R7500 and the revision R7500v2 need firmware updates that contain the updated SSL key from Qualcomm Atheros to allow owners to access database updates for the Dynamic QoS (QCA Streamboost-based). Without this update, R7500 and R7500v2 owners can only update the QoS database file to the one dated April 2015. Owners can not get the database update that was issued by Qualcomm in August 2015 and the latest from December 2015; not to mention any other database updates coming. The new SSL key was added starting in the v1.0.0.28 firmware for the January 2016 released R7800. At best, users know that Netgear is months behind on getting this out to it's users as the new keys I am told were issued in the second half of Summer 2015 and here we are less than a month from the first day of Spring 2016 (March 20th).Solved9.4KViews0likes15Comments
