Need equipment recommendation
I was running Luxul APs and a Luxul router. I had 3 failed APs in 2 years and wasn’t really happy with them anymore so I switched to Insight WAX615 APs (I have 4) and a GS305EPP switch. I didn’t need the switch with Luxul as the APs worked with my router. I am now growing tired of my Luxul router. I really like the Insight interface so I would like a router that uses the same interface. I also don’t need/want WiFi built into the router. The router sits in one end of the basement, thus the APs. I will still use the 4 port switch so I only need 4 ports on the router, if that is a factor. I am looking to spend about $200ish. What do you recommend?How to add 2 WAX630E AP's to my Network
I have the CR1000A Router with 1 gig fios internet service. I want to use just my two Netgear Access Points this way I can have seamless transitions between the access points (1 upstairs and 1 downstairs). Do I need to put my Route in "bridge mode"? What needs to be done to make this work?Can't log into Verizon 5G Home gateway through Netgear WAX202
Because the Verizon gateway's wifi is garbage, I opted to get the Netgear WAX202. When I connected it it was able to detect the internet through the gateway and configure itself just fine. I was able to log into the gateway via 192.168.0.1 just fine and was actually logged into both the gateway and router at the same time while setting them up. But I think after I set the gateway to passthrough mode, I lost the ability to log into the gateway as it's now coming up as unreachable. Is there an advanced setting in the router that'll allow me to log into the gateway?WAX610 firmware check not working
I bought this WAP a couple of years ago. I was always able to click check for update and it would find one if available. I got notice that there was an update, and I waited for the requisite 2 days before checking for non subscribers to insight. It didn't find anything. Today, I looked at the Netgear site and the update was available for download there. So now the upgrade check feature isn't working anymore. Is that feature now only for insight subscribers as well? Is anyone else seeing this?Is wi-fi 6 worth it over wi-fi 5?
Right now I'm looking at accespoints after getting a switch (supporting PoE+), mainly the TP-Link Omada EAP245 and the Netgear WAX214, the netgear supporting wi-fi 6 at 1.200Mbits on the 5Ghz band while the tp-link has wifi 5 yet 1.300Mbits on that 5Ghz band. I'll be using it in a single room to make for a stable link to wireless VR on an Oculus Quest (Airlink), which requires a pretty decently fast connection. Aswell as other devices such as my laptop and my phone. I was wondering if there are any significant advantages of wi-fi 6 in my use case or otherwise any other suggestions for accespoints. Any help would be very much appreciated!
WAC510 WPA3 and Enhanced Open Failure
So.. I have several of these netgear WAC510 wireless access points and not on a single one of them can I get WPA3 or enhanced open to operate at all. I've tried with iphones, android devices, windows laptops and desktops, it's quite annoying.. Here is my configuration procedure for enhanced open... I have updated the firmare to the latest 9.3.0.5 I have reset the access point to default settings I created an SSID called OWE-Test authentication is set to open the enhanced open checkmark is clicked this sets the 802.11w (PMF) radio button to mandatory these network ssid settings are applied Result... A wireless ssid is generated named OWE-Test.. on an iphone this appears with a lock next to the ssid and asks you to login with a username and password.. certainly not expected behavior.. on a windows device you can see a wireless ssid named OWE-Test with an x next to the network name.. on clicking you are told windows cannot connect to this network.. this has been my experience with enhanced open through every firmware update.. Here is my configuration for WPA3... I created a second SSID called WPA3-Test authentication is set to WPA3 Personal This automatically generates a password called "sharedsecret" It also automatically selects 802.11w(PMF) as mandatory for the radio button I click apply Result... This generates an SSID called WPA3-Test with a secure lock that can be viewed on an Iphone on connecting the iphone will ask for authentication for the password.. when the password "sharedsecret" is entered into the prompt the iphone will generate an error.. it's a message that says "can't connect to this network".. Within a windows device it's much the same as with the ehanced open test.. the SSID WPA3-Test can be viewed with an x sitting beside the network.. On clicking you are told "can't connect to this network" I do not have these issues at all with the WPA2 or legacy open settings but tbh I would like to begin transitioning some devices to the new standards.. My problem is the new protocols on this device are not working at all.. Any information regarding this issue would be helpful..WAC104 WPS button doesn't work?
TO provide my home with 2.4gHz access to my many legacy devices that I lost connectivity to when I upgraded to a Netgear Orbi 750, I bought a WAC104 online which arrived today. I also have two Negear mesh extenders - Nighthawk x45 AC2200, which have worked with my prior Netgear cable/modem. When I boot the WAC104, all the the indicator icons flash during power-up. But the icon that should come on when the WPS is active(when I push the WPS button, in other words), it never lights up. I also cannot get either of the two mesh extenders to link to the WAC104. I think the button is not functioning, does NOT turn on the WPS function. In the setup for the WAC104, there is a dropdown for "Setup" which contains two links: Wireless Setup and WPS Wizard. The link to Wireless Setup works fine, but the link to "WPS Setup" does nothing. Any advice on how I can verify that the WPS button is dead beyond what I have already done?
