We bought two readynas1100 units six years ago, last week one fan failed. It seems that netgear does not want to deliver a new one:mad: Can any one explain why? It is the dual fan (RNR4FAN1-10000S) Perhaps someone has a tip to replace the fan for another type? (it has the extra wire, and according to Sunon this his a frequentie generator for measurement of revolution speed I think)Raid1 vs X-RAID2 volume based on two disks only.
Hello, This is my first post on this forum. Some days ago I bought RN102 nas. I can not understand how the data and parity are distributed when X-RAID2 volume includes two disks only. Specification of X-RAID2 (http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/20980/related/1) says only that this model uses the first disk to store data, and the second disk to store parity information. Based on the definition If 1st disk fails, all data are lost -as second disk contains only parity info...? For two disks volumes it does not provide protection against 1st disk failure. Could anybody explain why this mode is default on two bays enclosures (RN10200) and What is the protection advantage over typical RAID1 ? ThanksReadyNAS OS 6 Storage System
I am only backing up about 700GB. I have 8.2TB on this readyNAS device. The backups are daily and overwrite the previous day's backups. So, why is this device running out of disk space? I check and there's never more than 700GB of space used. At least, that's all the dashboard shows when I check the Shares. What is going on with this thing? Is there something that doesn't show up in the Dashboard? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
