Hey, I was using my A6210 with Genie 10.0.0.34 on a Windows 10 PC when the device started disconnecting repeatedly within minutes, then seconds. I uninstalled Genie, got the 10.0.0.35 install, and then found Airplane mode was stuck ON. I went through the solutions on the internet, short of the registry edit procedure. Nothing worked. I deinstalled/reinstalled a few times and now the WiFi is working again, with airplane mode still ON?! However, Genie does not recognize that the A6210 is installed. Device Manager shows "802.11ac Wireless Lan Card" with driver provider Netgear, 4/21/2015, v5.1.22.0. Any clues to getting Genie working? As I said, I have connectivity through this adapter. Thanks!5KViews0likes4CommentsA6100 Installation, Standalone or Genie Version and Windows WLAN AutoConfig
Hello, Thanks for taking the time to read my question. I've searched for this answer and even sent an email to Microsoft, but no answer yet...I cannot find it anywhere. So what I'm wanting to know has more to do with WLAN in general than with my NetGear A6100 card but it does apply to my A6100 NIC. I installed the A6100 v1.0.0.30 with Genie on my Windows 8.1 64-bit machine and it seems to work good, I see many networks and all appears to be good, but I'm wondering if I should uninstall it and just use the standalone version? The reason I ask this is that this is the first WLAN NIC I've had in years, almost 7+ years since I last used WLAN and I realize that things have changed, but back then I had a Wireless NIC (don't wanna mention the name 'cause it wasn't a NetGear product), and I remember that the product had it's own WLAN service and driver and I had to turn off Microsoft's WLAN AutoConfig service in order for it to work properly. The PC I had this on was Windows XP Pro and I understand that Windows 8.1 has probably added some new things for networking but I'm wondering if I turn the WLAN AutoConfig service off in Windows 8.1 and uninstall the Genie version of NetGear and then install the standalone version, will I still have the ability to use WLAN on my Windows 8.1 machine. In other words, do I need the Windows WLAN AutoConfig service to be on for the NetGear driver and firmware to function. I do not like the Windows WLAN AutoConfig, it never seems to connect properly, loses connections alot (they go from good to limited, etc.) and would prefer to have only the NetGear drivers for accessing Wireless networks. I have all the latest updates from Windows Update installed, except the one where it offers to replace the NETGEAR A6100 Genie with the Microsoft version of it and I also know that other people on Windows 7 and 8 have issues with the Microsoft WLAN AutoConfig so this is not just something limited to my computer.15KViews0likes5CommentsA6210 Upgrade Failure
Products: A6210 WiFi Adapter Neatgear A6210 Genie The Netgear upgrade process failed and I am unable to perform a "manual" upgrade. The consequence is that the Netgear A6210 Genie no longer works, and I am unable to get it to work. Initial symptoms: I received and automated Netgear Genie prompt advising that a later version of the software (or firmware, I can't be certain) was available, and asking me if I wanted to upgrade. I replied "OK" and followed the steps. During the installation cycle, I received the following prompt: I checked for the target folder contained in the "Use source" box above and it does not exist. There are two folders with "NETGEAR A6210 Genie.msi" files on my system: C:\Windows\Downloaded Installations\{2BCF486D-314D-4C87-83F8-56BB24617141} C:\Windows\Downloaded Installations\{D7C2F4A3-B5BD-464A-A453-DE7B3D911FDF} I used "Browse…" to navigate to these files. In both cases, I received a prompt [along the lines of ] "the older version file is not valid…" I searched my system for any other instances of "NETGEAR A6210 Genie.msi". These are the only two. So… the upgrade failed and now the Genie will no longer run. Next Steps 1: I attempted to complete a "manual" upgrade. I downloaded "A6210_v1.0.0.34.zip" and followed the installation process. One of the step in that process is: To properly install adapter software, please remove drivers that were previously installed. To uninstall, go to Start > Programs > NETGEAR A6210 > Uninstall NETGEAR A6210 . I followed this step and now get: Next Steps 2: On the off chance the above message is spurious and the uninstall actually worked, I have attempted to install the upgrade. It repeats the symptoms described under Initial symptoms (above). Current Status: Netgear Genie not working and any attempt to upgrade/fix fails.6KViews0likes3Comments
