IPV6
23 TopicsIPV6 in load balancing mode on SRX5308
If you have more them one internet connect you cannot use IPV6, because IPV6 is only available in Primary WAN Mode. Also you lose all you’re settings when you change from Load Balancing to Primary WAN Mode or from Primary WAN to Load Balancing Mode, which is very frustrating.20KViews2likes2CommentsGS724Tv4 IGMP Snooping on a VLAN breaks IPV6 Multicast on same VLAN, Still after over 1.5yrs.
The "workaround" about doing it at port level is not 100%, seems alot of Multicast stream are missed and not reported in the switch in that config. When setup at the VLAN level it works 100% like its suposed to for IPv4, but ofcourse that breaks IPv6. This needs to be addressed, and apprently its on this whole "family" of switches based on other post here. EDIT: and this is with the latest firmware of 6.3.1.1624KViews4likes2Commentsvlan (ipv6 futureproofing)
Hi, We have a SRX5308 and a couple of FVS336 as well as a few other routers. We are futureproofing our corporate network by deploying ipv6 in parallel of ipv4. our address scheme was chosen as to be as simple for the admins as possible : ipv4 : 10.bbb.ccc.ddd (where bbb also denotes the vlan) ipv6 : fdgg:gggg:gggg:bbb::ccc:ddd:1 it's been deployed within the network, and it runs fine, no issues. our primary firewall-routerchain (not netgear) is also updated and works. I'm now trying to configure one of the netgear, and I'm discovering the issue where the ipv6 mode doesn't support vlan (at least through the GUI). is there any way to actually make ot work (telnet ?) or am I wasting my time, and should at some point replace them with other hardware ?15KViews3likes1CommentAmazon Drive Unavailable in Admin - Cloud Settings Console
Hello, I know my NAS is EOL, but I am running Raidar 6.9.3 on it, and I am hoping someone can help me figure out my problem. In January of this year, I configured my ReadyNAS to upload and sync with Amazon cloud drive successfully. Today, I went to double check my sync settings, and I noticed that the "Amazon Drive" button is now in an "OFF" position, which I did not set. When I try to enable it, I cannot move the button. All other cloud services are accessible for configuration. Interestingly, I also noticed that I am unable to check for updates from the System Overview landing page. An error message appears that states "Cannot connect. Communication error. Check your Internet connection, DNS Settings, or proxy settings." I feel the two problems are probably related. Now I know the major change I did not my home network is that I enabled IPv6 internally. But eth0 still has all its IPv4 settings. I also confirmed from a SSH Session that I can ping out to the internet on IPv4 and IPv6 successfully. I have also confirmed that name resolution is working for IPv4 and IPv6. My questions are: 1) Is this related to IPv6? doing a lookup of Amazon.ca returns only IPv4 addresses. 2) could someone share the URL that the "Check for Update" link connects to? If anyone can help, I would be very appreciative. Thank you Mark.1.2KViews0likes4Commentsconfiguring the FVS318Gv2 for IPv6
I have a new FVS318Gv2 with the very latest firmware update, everything is running fine. Am now experimenting with some of the settings (I know, I should leave well enough alone!), and am confused about the IPv6 configuration. My ISP, Spectrum (formely Time Warner Cable) has rolled out IPv6, I've confirmed this by looking at the status on my Netgear Cable modem (and reading Spectrum online documentation). According to the Netgear reference manual, to change to IPv6 in the Prosafe you go to Network Configuration>WAN Settings>WAN mode and change the Routing Mode from "IPv4 Only" to "IPv4 / IPv6 mode." That part went fine, the router rebooted and came back online. The second part involves going to the next tab over, "Broadband ISP settings," and clicking the "IPv6" radio button in the upper right. For the Internet Address dropdown menu I"ve chosen DHCPv6 and selected the "Stateless Address Auto Configuration" radio button below. When I click the "apply" button at the bottom it says "Operation succeeded." When I click "status" it shows a good connection with an IPv6 address. But when I click out of that tab to somewhere else in the admin, it goes back to showing the "IPv4" radio button selected in the upper right. It's like the IPv6 settings I just saved get undone as soon as I leave. Any insights as to why this might be happening? Thanks.1.9KViews0likes3CommentsOrbi loosing IPv6 routing ability consistently
I have a consistent problem with a (latest firmware) Orbi system in that it continues to loose IPv6 fucntionality (but not addresses) - and this seems to mirror a bug Netgear has with other routers as well. I have native dual-stack - and I use DHCP to successfully get IPv6 addresses. All my devices get dual-stack addresses and work - for about 1-3 days. Then, while my devices all retain their IPv6 routing info (as does Orbi), there is NO communication on '6' anymore. I need to refresh and "Apply" in the Orbi IPv6 pane to fix it - but have to do that literally every day now. There have been other posts with IPv6 tunnel and other (non-native) implemntaitons. What gives? Something Netgear is working on? thxC6300 not able to reach ipv4 sites, but only ipv6 sites
Started using my C6300 at a new home with Xfinity/Comcast cable in May 2017. About two days ago (mid-September 2017), we couldn't reach most sites and received 'server can not be found' or 'internet not reachable' errors to ipv4 sites. We can reach the big ipv6 sites like Google, Facebook, Youtube, via both wifi and directly connected with ethernet to modem. I called Xfinity and rebooted modem multiple times, to no avail. Xfinity rep stated it could be a firmware change from Netgear (although from i read online, Xfinity/Comcast controls the firmware updates of the netgear modems?). I can see ipv6 address, but no ipv4 router address in my wifi settings. And when i test my ip address on the one website i can reach (http://whatismyipaddress.com/ds-check), it shows an ipv6 address, but ipv4 is "not detected." Xfinity stated i should test one of their modems, or have technician come out to test one (for a fee). The other solution offered was to try a factory reset on my modem. Any insight out there on why after months of working fine, ipv4 sites can no longer be reached? Thanks TJSolved6.2KViews0likes5CommentsCant login to openDNS from genie
My router is a DGN2200 A few problems - how do I know what version I have as it does not seem to say anywhere - does that mean that this version will not work with Genie? I managed to use the Genie App the first time I login in and changed the parental controls itbut now it comes back with the message "Netgear router not found or is not supported. Make sure that your mobile device is not connected to the router's guest network and the the iPv6 is not enabled" Okay so how do I know if I am connected to the "guest network"?? What is iPv6? Is my login what is written on my router? I am finding this really hard to navigate through please help4.5KViews0likes7CommentsR7000 keeps losing IPv6 WAN address
Hello, I'm with Rogers Cable and am able to obtain and keep an IPv6 address when using the Rogers Hitron CGN3 gateway, but when I use the R7000 it gets an IPv6 address for an hour or so and then I lose it. I can get it back again by rebooting the R7000 only (no need to reboot Hitron). I can confirm this has been an issue with at least the last three firmware versions. Currently using V1.0.8.34_1.2.15 Any suggestions would be appreciated.Solved8.3KViews0likes20CommentsGuest isolation in AP mode works on latest firmware...almost (tl;dr IPv4 is OK, IPv6 not so much)
The good: Things work like you'd expect - you can reach the Internet but nothing on the local network except DHCP and DNS. The bad: If your network has IPv6, it completely bypasses isolation. Netgear, thank you for putting the effort in to get this right for IPv4, but please don't forget it's increasingly an IPv6 world out there. Please add proper isolation for IPv6 in the same manner you already are for IPv4. Rodney
