How can I use the SFP/SFP+ ports on my Insight Switch? So you bought a new Insight Managed Smart Cloud switch, and you'd like to use all the ports, but don't have fiber runs in your environment. What can you do? Actually, you can use the ports with RJ45 copper Ethernet, just by inserting an SFP-to-Copper GBIC from NETGEAR! For the GC110, GC110P, GC510P, GC510PP, as well as the 2 Gigabit SFP ports on the GC728X, GC728XP, GC752X, and GC752XP, you can purchase one (or two if going to another fiber connection on another switch) AGM734 module(s)(one for each end of the connection) and then use CAT5e or better cable to connect the Insight switch to the other Insight Switch (or other Gigabit Ethernet switch). Note that you can use the AGM734 GBIC in the 10G SFP+ ports on the GC728X, GC728XP, GC752X, and GC752XP models as well for Gigabit speed connections to the other device/switch. For the 10G SFP+ connections available on the GC728X, GC728XP, GC752X, and GC752XP models, you can use NETGEAR AXM735 GBIC(s) to connect two 10G switches (or device to the switch) using CAT6a or better copper Ethernet cabling. Of course, you can also use standard fiber connections on the SFP and SFP+ ports as well for long-distance connections between the Insight switches (or other devices with fiber connections). Check the datasheets for the specific model you have to get all of the available compatible GBICs and cables available from NETGEAR. Visit the NETGEAR Modules and Accessories page to find SFP transceivers. Did you know? With the newest firmware release 1.0.4.6, all 8-port/10-port models of the Insight Smart Cloud switches now support static routing, just like the larger port-count rackmount models! IPv4/IPv6 Static routing allows for a simple way to provide segmentation of the network with internal routing through the switch – reserving the router for external traffic routing only, making the entire network more efficient. Currently, static routing needs to be setup using the local-only web GUI, but will soon be available in the Insight mobile app and Insight Cloud portal, so stay tuned for that!Solved8.6KViews2likes5CommentsGC110 & GC110P - Crashing / Restarting Every 2 Days on Firmware 1.0.5.35 (3 Switches)
Hi Friends, I have 3 switches (GC110 and GC110P) managed via Insight. A few months ago they all started crashing / restarting themselves - strangely about every 2 days, 6 hours (I kept a spreadsheet!). Each would restart by itself, and then be fine again for another couple of days. All were on firmware 1.0.5.35 (latest) and I can find nothing useful in the log just prior to the crashes. On reboot it does say in the log "SIM Cnfgr_Thread - : sim_util.c(3927) 8 %% Switch was reset due to power disruption or unexpected restart." In desperation I reverted one switch back to 1.0.5.32, and it hasn't crashed since. The other two kept crashing. I've now downgraded another one to 1.0.5.32 and it's been stable for 8+ days too. The remaining switch I've left on 1.0.5.35 and it crashes almost like clockwork. Anybody come across this before with firmware 1.0.5.35? Can't see anything in the firware release notes. Thanks for any ideas! :smileyvery-happy: Nick.6.9KViews1like24CommentsFound bluetooth usb adapter in 626x box? Where is the insight app?
I've just bought a replacement to my hugely successful 2009 ReadyNas Pro business edition. I maxed out the RAM and upgraded the CPU in the old work horse back in 2009 and it has been tremendous ever since but recently the lower power supply fan has completely seized so it's time to retire the old box and upgrade! So, I bought a 626X last week and it is currently sitting in my living room. I'm waiting for a refresh backup to USB to complete on the old box, then I'll be swapping the 6x2tb disks over to the new unit and restoring the backup. Unpacking the new kit, I found a USB bluetooth adapter stuck inside the box. Browsing around, I've found mention of an "insight" phone app that uses bluetooth. I can't seem to find it in either the apple or android app stores and I've seen other's refer to it as beta. Does anyone have any info about this app or what I can do with the bluetooth dongle?Solved6.5KViews0likes2CommentsNo attached wired devices
I just installed a GC110P switch so that I could manage IP cameras remotely, however after I got everything up and running the switch was not showing any attached devices. There are two IP cameras attached to the switch and I can access them online and I can see and I can manage the switch through the Insight app...but no attached devices. I can see the cameras from the router page. Maybe I'm misunderstanding how this is supposed to work but I'm guessing that I should see clients in the Insight app.Solved5.5KViews0likes7CommentsBR500 Multiple Subnets with VLANs
Hello, This forum has been very helpful for a non-IT business owner like me who wears the IT hat most of the times by default. I got the complete line of insight products. Router, 24p POE smart Switch, 52p smart switch, and several wac510s. All seems to be going well after some research and playing around. But... I'm trying to establish 6 VLANS each with their own subnet. Completely independent so they cannot ping each other. I've found that I think the BR500 can only support 4 subnets. Is that correct? After the 4th one is created, the "add" box is greyed out. If that is the case, can I get a single subnet to assign IPs to multiple VLANs and keep them completely separate? I was reading that this may be an option in the routing table with ACL in the advanced settings, but I'll probably screw that up. Any way to do that in the insight platform? Also, we really need IP reservations on the insight platform vs having to log into the BR500. My simple Google wifi puck at home can do that.... Thanks in advance! Really appreciate the help.
