Need simple help to set up
Hello, I'm pretty computer and networking savvy, have set up all sorts of networks and home routers and wifi in the past with no problems. Got this Netgear Trek N300 PR2000 as a present thinking I could connect at a hotel with wifi for only one login to their wifi, then connect several other devices, either wirelessly, or through the ethernet port. Seems like it should be simple, so I must be missing something. Instructions aren't clear or I don't follow the terminology properly. I think I should be able to plug this into the wall, switch to wired setting, vs. wireless. Then connect my computer via the ethernet LAN port and get an IP address so I can access the built in webserver for more setup. I can NOT get an ip address. Tried the wired option and plugged into both internet and LAN port, and same for wireless. Can not get an IP address (Windows 7 Pro). I've done the reset via the button several times (holding for more than 10 seconds). I was even given another one of these from a friend who couldn't get it to work and same thing, essentially nothing. What am I missing? Hey, I have Time Warner Cable as my internet service provider. I used to pay for 50 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload speeds. I used to get those speeds when connected to my Netgear router through wifi fine. Two days ago Time Warner Cable updated our internet to 200 Mbps download and 20 Mbps upload speed. When connected from laptop to modem given by Time Warner, the speeds are fine. However, when connected to my Netgear router through wifi, I am now only getting around 30 Mbps download but the upload has gone up to around 20 Mbps. So basically Time Warner upgraded my internet but Netgear has dropped my download speed and raised my upload speed. Some of my router settings: Channel - Auto Mode - 300 Mbps Security is on AES option. My default router MTU was 1492. I tried changing that to numerous options such as 1400, 1440, 1460, ect. but speeds remained the same. I put it back to 1492. I have tried disabling WMM,changing DNS, as well as changing channels. No change in speeds. Please help with this. Thanks.SolvedCannot set WPA2-PSK(AES) security
I have a Netgear WNDR3400v3 router running firmware V1.0.0.46_1.0.45. I have two SSIDs running. I have 3 computers on 2.4GHz and my smart TV on 500GHz. I am trying to run both SSIDs on WPA2-PSK(AES) security but they both keep defaulting back to WPA-PSK[TKIP] + WPA2-PSK[AES]. I believe the TKIP option is slowing down my network. Why won't my WPA2-PSK(AES) setting stick?Solved
