There is an issue as of late when I had the oldest firmware I had 150 MBPS connection when I upgraded to the previously latest firmware it dropped down to 72MBps and now with the current firmware it will not give me more than 72 on one card and the laptop I am using it is a strange speed of 58.2 and does not go above that. When I connect to 5 GHz it gives me more speed. And the problem is I need the full speed in order to use my NAS drive effectivly. I suppose I just better connect an ethernet cable in when I want to use the NAS to get the full speed otherwise I am limited to 58.5-65 Mbps around 6-8MB/s* I am fed up no matter what channle I choose, I cannot get the speed back. This is not a N600 router because of this issue. My Belkin N150 gives me full speed so it is not RF interferance. Anyone have any idea? Or would me installing the OPEN-WRT help me get my speed. This router has 8MB Rom, 64MB Ram and a 500+MHz processor. My LG2 802.11/abgn connects at 108 MBps on the 5Ghz band, my Kindle Fire HD 2013 (On 5Ghz band) connects at 108 MBps, my Nokia Lumia 1020 connects at 72 MBPS, my desktop connects at 72MBps (2.4 GHz band), My HDTVs are uncertian as I do not know on which band they connect, Any idea on what to do to take advantage of the speed this device CLAIMS to do? I need to know if I could go back to an older firmware, or find a WRT system that allows me to agressively set up the 40 MHz. I am saddened that I have to do these things.. Let me know *100 MB/s is 12.5MBps transfer rate in windows dialogSolvedWNDR3400v3 slow wired connection
I recently upgraded my internet speed from 50mbps to 100mbps. Prior to the upgrade my wired connection speed to the router was always very near that 50mbps mark and my wirless speed was also very close (somewhere in the 30-40s). After upgrading, the speeds directly out of my modem are actually higher than the 100mbps target, I'm getting 120-130mbps consistently when plugged directly into the modem. However, when hard-wired to the router, I am seeing a significant drop off. The wired router connection has never been above 60mbps. My wireless speed is about the same as what it was before. I called support and they kept telling me that wireless speeds will always be less than what you pay for. He was not understanding that my concern was the hard-wired connection being half the speed that is coming directly from the modem. Then, he wanted to charge me $80 to try to "optimize the settings" remotely. I could go buy an identical router for less than that price and use the free trial support and have an extra router lying around (that can apparently only handle 50mbps incoming speeds). Anyways, I was wondering if there were any troubleshooting steps I should complete before buying a new router. I've tried factory resetting the router, Downgrading and Upgrading firmware, different ethernet cables (all cables worked at 120+mbps directly to the router). Nothing can get the speed above 60mbps. Thanks for any help that can be provided.SolvedNetgear N600 as a repeater?
I have an Apple Time Capsule connected to my Arris SB6141 modem. I have an additional Netgear N600 router that I want to connect to my network and use it as a wifi extender while also being able to run ethernet cables from the ports to have wired connections in another part of my house. How can I set this up? I was wondering if they will all be on the name network and not create an additional wireless network also. Thanks in advance.20KViews0likes6CommentsCannot connect on 5GHz
Hi, I have a DGND3700 router and just bought a WN2500RP to extend it. Both are are on latest firmware. I went through the normal set up using TPS and it connects and shows the 2.4GHz connection. If I repeat the same many times, the 5GHz never lights up. I know 5GHz is working on the 3700 because my iPad connects to the 5Ghz SSID and my iPhone connects to the 2.4GHz SSID. I tried using the web interface to connect to 5GHz but it also fails to connect. I am certain the password is correct. I'm using WPA2-PSK (AES). I am not using a wireless card access list. My 2.4GHz SSID is called JOHNA-2.4G My 5GHz SSID is called JOHNA-5G Even though the 5GHz light is not lit on the 2500 and the web interface shows it is not connected, I see the following Networks on my iPad JOHNA-2.4G JOHNA-2.4G_2GEXT JOHNA-5G JOHNA-5G_5GEXT If I connect to JOHNA-2.4G_2GEXT or JOHNA-5G_5GEXT and browse to the device I can see 5GHz is not connected. If I tell it to connect, it says it will take 2 minutes. I usually give up after 10 minutes. Both devices are in the same room so it is not a distance problem - I hope. In summary, no matter what I do, it will not connect at 5GHz. A bit disappointed by this. I thought 2 new products from Netgear that support TPS would work flawlessly. Any advice would be very welcome. John.96KViews0likes32CommentsCan't access Extender via www.mywifiext.net
I just installed a Netgear WN2500RP range extender, and it seems to be working correctly; however, I am unable to log in to www.mywifiext.net to access the device using a browser. Attempting to access this URL results in a timeout. Is there any other way to access the device? Does the device have to be connected via Ethernet to my (Actiontec PK5000) router?Solved404KViews0likes38CommentsWNDR3400v3 N600 Wireless Dual Band Router password reset instructions don't work
I don't understand why when I ran antivirus software it alerted me I have a weak router username and password. I have set a new username and password and have clicked "apply." But when I follow the instructions which are copied>pasted, below, I get to step 2. and it only accepts the *old* username and password to log in as described in step 2. Then when I do step 4 and click on "Wireless," it opens up the page and displays the *new* updated SSID and Passphrases, NOT the *old* username and password I had to type in in step 2. Why do they not match? I want to update my "too weak" username and password but it does not appear to be saving it based on going through the provided steps, below. Even more confusing: Step 6 is not accurate because there is no field with that name. There is a field named "passphrase," but not a field named "Password (Network Key)." I have clicked the "apply" button but then when I log out and try to log back in again, once again it asks for a username and password but will only take the *old* one, and my antivirus scan repeats that the username and password are still too weak. Here are the steps NETGEAR offers me online for my model: Article ID: 23439 To change your WiFi password or network name (SSID): Launch an Internet browser and type http://www.routerlogin.net into the address bar. If you are having problems accessing routerlogin.net, visit Router login page cannot be displayed or is blank. Enter the router user name and password when prompted. The default user name is admin. The default password is password. Click OK. The BASIC Home page displays. Select Wireless. Enter your new user name in the Name (SSID) field. Enter your new password in the Password (Network Key) fields. Click the Apply button. Your changes are saved.SolvedWNDR3400v3 connects 5G and ethernet but not using 2.4G
I have an WNDR3400v3 N600 Wireless Dual Band Router which will no longer connect in the 2.4G band if security is turned on. The 5G band and all ethernet ports work fine. As I have 2 other 2.4G access point in our facility, I set one AP on channel 1, the other on channel 11 while the the router (WNDR3400v3) is set to channel 6. This set up has work very well for the past 3 1/2 months. Last week the router 2.4G channel would not let anyone connect. Neither laptops, iPhone nor Androids. If I turn off security it will work and allows connections. Turn security back on, it kicks everyone off and each client keeps cycling through the connection process. I have changed the channel, reset the router, changed the passphrase, all to no avail. I also updated the firmware to the latest (V1.0.1.2_1.0.51). Anyone have any ideas? And if not, how do I get this thing replaced since obviously it's not working as advertised. Thanks for your help.Solved4.4KViews0likes10CommentsCan't access admin page (www.mywifiext.net)
After wasting my time for 30 minutes trying to get www.mywifiext.net to work, here's what I did: --I had already set up the WN3500RP using WPS. --Connected to the WN3500RP via Ethernet (i.e. ran a CAT6 cable from my laptop to the Ethernet port on the WN3500RP). --Went into my router's DHCP table to get the IP address of the WN3500RP. --Entered the IP address as the URL (e.g. 192.168.1.144). --Changed the WN3500RP to use a static IP address outside the range of my router's DHCP list (e.g. 192.168.1.163). That way it will always be at .163 so I don't have to hunt for it every time I want to access the admin page. --Entered the new static IP address as the URL (e.g. 192.168.1.163). --Updated the firmware and customized the WN3500RP. Hope that helps!Brand new Samsung S6 Smartphone will not communicate with WN3000RP
I have 2 other devices, a notebook and another android that communicate just fine, but my brand new S6 will not hook up to the extender. I have reset the modem, the extender, and the phone itself. I have told my phone to "forget" that particular connection and have re-set it up to no avail. When I try to connect, it says "connecting" for a minute or so then it tries again, and then finally it says "failed to obtain IP address." Help16KViews0likes26Comments
