WNDR3400v3 connects 5G and ethernet but not using 2.4G
I have an WNDR3400v3 N600 Wireless Dual Band Router which will no longer connect in the 2.4G band if security is turned on. The 5G band and all ethernet ports work fine.
As I have 2 other 2.4G access point in our facility, I set one AP on channel 1, the other on channel 11 while the the router (WNDR3400v3) is set to channel 6. This set up has work very well for the past 3 1/2 months. Last week the router 2.4G channel would not let anyone connect. Neither laptops, iPhone nor Androids. If I turn off security it will work and allows connections. Turn security back on, it kicks everyone off and each client keeps cycling through the connection process. I have changed the channel, reset the router, changed the passphrase, all to no avail. I also updated the firmware to the latest (V1.0.1.2_1.0.51). Anyone have any ideas? And if not, how do I get this thing replaced since obviously it's not working as advertised. Thanks for your help.
Vellu Sounds like you already have a faulty unit.
Last resort would be re-upload the latest firmware. You can still load the same firmware version, it's called reflash.
If that didn't fix it, then it's a faulty unit.

Have you reset it to defaults?

After firmware updates it's good to reset to defaults and do your settings over.

I'll give the reset to defaults a try, but the reason why I did the firmware update was because the 2.4G signal would not allow users to stay connected. The entire setup worked fine for close to 3 months with no changes made during that period.

And your point is? There are only several things you can do, If it worked once, then it's not likely a user setting will correct it.
1) reset it
2) reset it to defaults
3) change FW ( Up or Down ) and still Reset it to defaults
4) do nothing and replace it.
Good Luck!

It seems that I have exactly the same problem on another product (DGND3700). 5G band and ethernet works ok, but 2.4G band does not work. It works immediately after restart, but after a day or so, it stops working. The SSID is broadcasted and all the devices can attempt to connect, but the connection is dropped in practise immediately and the device just tries again.
I did reset to factory defaults less than 2 days ago, and now the problem appeared again. I bought DGND3700 early 2012, so I fear that it's time for a new ADSL router for me. If it had been 5G band that was not working, it wouldn't have been so bad, since most devices only use 2.4G band.
If you have any other hints on such problem (how to avoid it), it would be really useful and appreciated.

1) Yes, quite a few times, usually using the power switch, sometimes unplugging the power cord. I didn't get the original access point to work with reset only. Another access point seemed to work for a short while, but stopped working quite soon.
2) Yes, but only once. Immediately afterwards the original access point worked (or seemed to) for a while, but stopped working afterwards. I cannot be absolutely sure if the 2.4G access points really worked, I relied on the notification of the tablets (e.g. connected, no internet). And when the connection to internet was lost, it was too late to ensure.
3) I already have the latest firmware, so I cannot upgrade it.
4) I have another ADSL router in use at the moment, but it has different GUI and features (and problems), so having the original NETGEAR back would be nice... I will surely try it later again when I have the time.
Another symptom that I forgot to mention was that even though it showed that ADSL was connected, and I was able to access the GUI, all the computers in the network reported that they lost access to internet. Intranet was working, and GUI showed 20M+ DL and 1M+ UL speed towards ISP, there was no connection to internet from any device connected to ADSL router. After restart the connection to internet was resumed. It started to happen more and more often and it continued to happen after reset to defaults as well.
I had no USB devices connected there, only 4x eth cables (printer, NAS,8 port switch, computer). I also tried with only 1 computer connected via ethernet (+ the some devices using wifi on 5G band).
