5 TopicsIssues with the 2.4 GHZ side of my Netgear WNDR-3400V2
There is an issue as of late when I had the oldest firmware I had 150 MBPS connection when I upgraded to the previously latest firmware it dropped down to 72MBps and now with the current firmware it will not give me more than 72 on one card and the laptop I am using it is a strange speed of 58.2 and does not go above that. When I connect to 5 GHz it gives me more speed. And the problem is I need the full speed in order to use my NAS drive effectivly. I suppose I just better connect an ethernet cable in when I want to use the NAS to get the full speed otherwise I am limited to 58.5-65 Mbps around 6-8MB/s* I am fed up no matter what channle I choose, I cannot get the speed back. This is not a N600 router because of this issue. My Belkin N150 gives me full speed so it is not RF interferance. Anyone have any idea? Or would me installing the OPEN-WRT help me get my speed. This router has 8MB Rom, 64MB Ram and a 500+MHz processor. My LG2 802.11/abgn connects at 108 MBps on the 5Ghz band, my Kindle Fire HD 2013 (On 5Ghz band) connects at 108 MBps, my Nokia Lumia 1020 connects at 72 MBPS, my desktop connects at 72MBps (2.4 GHz band), My HDTVs are uncertian as I do not know on which band they connect, Any idea on what to do to take advantage of the speed this device CLAIMS to do? I need to know if I could go back to an older firmware, or find a WRT system that allows me to agressively set up the 40 MHz. I am saddened that I have to do these things.. Let me know *100 MB/s is 12.5MBps transfer rate in windows dialogSolvedWNDR3400v3 slow wired connection
I recently upgraded my internet speed from 50mbps to 100mbps. Prior to the upgrade my wired connection speed to the router was always very near that 50mbps mark and my wirless speed was also very close (somewhere in the 30-40s). After upgrading, the speeds directly out of my modem are actually higher than the 100mbps target, I'm getting 120-130mbps consistently when plugged directly into the modem. However, when hard-wired to the router, I am seeing a significant drop off. The wired router connection has never been above 60mbps. My wireless speed is about the same as what it was before. I called support and they kept telling me that wireless speeds will always be less than what you pay for. He was not understanding that my concern was the hard-wired connection being half the speed that is coming directly from the modem. Then, he wanted to charge me $80 to try to "optimize the settings" remotely. I could go buy an identical router for less than that price and use the free trial support and have an extra router lying around (that can apparently only handle 50mbps incoming speeds). Anyways, I was wondering if there were any troubleshooting steps I should complete before buying a new router. I've tried factory resetting the router, Downgrading and Upgrading firmware, different ethernet cables (all cables worked at 120+mbps directly to the router). Nothing can get the speed above 60mbps. Thanks for any help that can be provided.SolvedWNDR3400v3 N600 Wireless Dual Band Router password reset instructions don't work
I don't understand why when I ran antivirus software it alerted me I have a weak router username and password. I have set a new username and password and have clicked "apply." But when I follow the instructions which are copied>pasted, below, I get to step 2. and it only accepts the *old* username and password to log in as described in step 2. Then when I do step 4 and click on "Wireless," it opens up the page and displays the *new* updated SSID and Passphrases, NOT the *old* username and password I had to type in in step 2. Why do they not match? I want to update my "too weak" username and password but it does not appear to be saving it based on going through the provided steps, below. Even more confusing: Step 6 is not accurate because there is no field with that name. There is a field named "passphrase," but not a field named "Password (Network Key)." I have clicked the "apply" button but then when I log out and try to log back in again, once again it asks for a username and password but will only take the *old* one, and my antivirus scan repeats that the username and password are still too weak. Here are the steps NETGEAR offers me online for my model: Article ID: 23439 To change your WiFi password or network name (SSID): Launch an Internet browser and type http://www.routerlogin.net into the address bar. If you are having problems accessing routerlogin.net, visit Router login page cannot be displayed or is blank. Enter the router user name and password when prompted. The default user name is admin. The default password is password. Click OK. The BASIC Home page displays. Select Wireless. Enter your new user name in the Name (SSID) field. Enter your new password in the Password (Network Key) fields. Click the Apply button. Your changes are saved.SolvedWNDR3400v3 connects 5G and ethernet but not using 2.4G
I have an WNDR3400v3 N600 Wireless Dual Band Router which will no longer connect in the 2.4G band if security is turned on. The 5G band and all ethernet ports work fine. As I have 2 other 2.4G access point in our facility, I set one AP on channel 1, the other on channel 11 while the the router (WNDR3400v3) is set to channel 6. This set up has work very well for the past 3 1/2 months. Last week the router 2.4G channel would not let anyone connect. Neither laptops, iPhone nor Androids. If I turn off security it will work and allows connections. Turn security back on, it kicks everyone off and each client keeps cycling through the connection process. I have changed the channel, reset the router, changed the passphrase, all to no avail. I also updated the firmware to the latest (V1.0.1.2_1.0.51). Anyone have any ideas? And if not, how do I get this thing replaced since obviously it's not working as advertised. Thanks for your help.Solved4.4KViews0likes10Comments
