I'm running a nine year old ReadyNAS NVX. Recently the NAS was 90% full so I replaced the two smaller two TB drives with 3 TB drives. The expansion went fine. However, when I went to check the smart disk functions on the drives the function returned no information. Now I know that function used to work. The only thing I've done to the NAS in the past year is update the operating system for security fixes and expand the usable space this weekend. I'm currently running the following software: RAIDiator 4.2.31. Anyone know of a fix for this issue? As an aside, the software running this board won't allow me to label this post with ReadyNAS or anything relevant to the NVX. Hence the label adding disks which isn't particularly relevant to this post. I do realize this is an old NAS and out of support, but Netgear should allow discussion of legacy hardware, especially when the problem is probably due to their own software upgrade.1KViews0likes2CommentsRNDX wont start

I have an NVX with 4x 2TB Seagate drives, configured as a single volume using X-RAID2. It reports Online, X-RAID2, 4 disks, 37% of 5548 GB used. Earlier today I got " Thu Sep 1 00:01:42 MDT 2016 Disk failure detected. Following a power supply problem a few months ago I acquired a 2nd NVX to use as backup. I has 4x 1TB Seagate drives. It's so far unused. By Coincidence today amazon delivered 4x 2TB Seagate drives for the backup NVX and I was going to set-up rsync to backup one to the other. So, short term I can take one of the proposed backup drives and plug it into the primary and buy another 2TB drive. Alternatively, since I don't need the full 5TB capacity, it occurs to me I could ut a 1TB drive in the primary NVX; then build the backup NVX with 1x 1TB and 3x 2TB and be left with a spare 3x 1TB and 1x 2TB drive ready for future drive failure. Make sense or am I missing something important? Both NVX are already running the latest/last RAIDiator-x86 Version: 4.2.28Solved2.9KViews0likes2CommentsReplacing disks on NVX with previously used 3Tb model fails
Hello I have a RNDX4210 NVX Business Edition running RAIDiator 4.2.27. Some time ago I replaced all four 3Tb disks (Seagate ST33000651AS) with 4Tb models (Seagate ST4000VN000). Because I plan to use the 4Tb disks in a RN316 that I recently bought, I tried to put back the 3Tb disks in the NVX NAS, in the same order as when I took them out. Now the NVX boots with errors (no network link) but it does find the right IP address. In Frontview, three of the four disks are reported as 'dead', and two of these disks are reported as the previous 4T models. Error messages: ' No volume exists...' and ' The paths for the shares listed cannot be found...' I have not yet tried to factory reset. Q: Is there any way to re-instate the NVX with the original 3Tb disks? Thanks in advance, cabwavSolved2.6KViews0likes4CommentsReadyNAS NVX Power failure/apparent death
I have a 2010 bought ReadyNAS NVX which will no longer power up (not a flicker or glimmer of any life). I have tried: - changing cables - changing power socket - leaving cold for 24 hours and restarting - tweaking the battery to reset it After the above, as far as I can see the general experience is to replace the power supply. However since a new power supply on Amazon or eBay is about 70 British pounds I would like to check out any other options or validating this is the issue. Also I found instructions on the site for changing power supply on other models but not the NVX. I do have at the moment a spare ATX 600W power supply - if I could connect this up it would let me at least prove its the power supply. Wondering if this is supported or if it is likely to make things worse! http://www.readynas.com/download/archive/pdf/ReadyNAS_PSU_pinout.pdf Alternatively, I do occasionally see second hand units - more money than a power supply but a full unit in case its actually the motherboard dead on mine. I'm assuming any NVX case would do (eg that I could put my disks into a Pioneer edition case) but are they also cross compatible with the NV/NV+ range? Finally, most of the data was backed up fortunately however my husband had just loaded on a bunch of files in the afternoon before the next backup ran.
