Orbi
207 TopicsFeature request (force a device to a specific Orbi)
I have one problem device that, for some reason, always chooses the Satellite Orbi instead of the Router Orbi, which is always the furtherest away from the device. The Router Orbi is by far the closer one to the device. I can reboot the network and the device will connect to the Router, but will eventually creep back to the Satellite for whatever reason. It's a stationary device (TV) and never moves. I'd like to request to have a feature implemented that will allow us to "force" or designate a specific device to a specific Orbi. I know they plan on releasing a firmware that will allow us to customize how the lights on top act (always on, etc), which I hope gets released soon! Also, a Guest Network feature would rock!Orbi and Ring products issues
I recently switched from one router + repeater to the Orbi system. No installation problem. When I first connected my Ring Doorbell and 2 Ring Spotlight cameras, no connection issues. One camera connected to the Router, while the Doorbell and the other camera connected to one satellite each. Motion was detected and reported. Live View worked. All was well. Then I started to notice problems with Live View. If there was no motion detected for a while, then Live View would show a black screen (or could not connect). Motion would restore the Live View for 15-30 minutes. I checked the connected devices, and the Dorrbell and camera connected to the satellites would not show in the list. After motion they would show. The camera connected to the router would always be in the list and show Live View with no issue. Testing further, I turned off the 2 satellites and brought one camera back on the house to be close enough to get a signal. Now all are connected to the Router and I have no Live View issue anymore. Therefore it seems there is a problem when Ring products connect to a satellite. I tried all suggestions mentioned on this forum, no luck. Anybody noticed the same issue? Any solution?QOS- priority by device
How do I setup high priority for one device in my network over all other devices? E.g., I need high priority for my laptop when I work from home compared to roku or iPad etc. I am surprised I don't see much under QOS for this router. 400 dollars is a lot for router with out moderate featuresOrbi dropping internet connection
I purchased a netgear orbi router last month and have had problems with it dropping internet connection almost daily. The orbi representative suggested I get a new system because they had tried all of their help solutions. I went and exchanged my router for a new one and am still having daily disconnects. Really annoying to pay this kind of money for a router and have to constantly power cycle it to keep it running. Seems to be an error with the modem not assigning a MAC address. If I unplug the orbi and plug my old router in I have no problems.SolvedOrbi RBR50 and Slow WiFi Problems with iOS Devices
I’ve been experience a very strange problem with slow WiFi speeds on my iOS devices for a few months now and was wondering if anyone might be able to point me to something to try to fix it. It seems that the problem started when I updated our iPhones and iPads to iOS 11 and has been ongoing ever since. I have spoken with Apple about the issue, but nothing we’ve tried has helped. Things like turning Airplane mode on and off, resetting network settings, re-setting up the iPad/iPhone as a new device, etc. Here’s what happens. When home, the iOS devices act normally and have a good connection to the Orbi system and get full Internet speed (150 Mbps for my service) all over the house. If we then take the iOS devices out of the house and connect to another WiFi network, such as at work, all is still well. The problem starts when we return home. They connect to the WiFi network just fine, but if I perform a speed test, they will show anywhere from about 1 Mbps to about 25 Mbps connections and will not get any better throughput. Also, while this is happening, if you try to use an application that accesses the Internet, it will experience long delays in accessing the information every few minutes. Once the delay is over, everything works as expected, but at the low, and sometimes very low, connection speeds. No amount of fiddling with the iOS devices will correct the situation; however, through the process of elimination I found that restarting the Orbi router gets everything back to working as expected. I can’t for the life of me figure out what could potentially be causing this odd behavior, but would appreciate any insight that someone may have and would be willing to share. This is becoming more and more annoying as time goes on.Orbi app feature request
I use IOS so I'm not sure if droids come with these features, but I was testing a clients Eero and noticed there app has so many features like built in speed test with upload and download speeds. This a feature I think the Orbi app needs. I don't like having a tons of apps on my phone and iPad that do the same darn thing. To get the most out of my Orbi I need genie and Orbi apps, some of the things we need the gene for should be moved to the orbi app. Not being able to setup guest wifi from the app this is just basic functionality we are missing here. The app looks very 2000ish. Why would I want my app to open up with my wifi info including password up on the screen. Some basic network statistics would be good like what is connected where. I don't expect the app to be a replacement for web login but we need way more than it's doing now. Just in case you don't wanna read my long drawn out request here it is in a list Netgear: 1. Ability to run speed tests in the orbi app upload and download 2. Ability to set up a guest network from Orbi app 3. Copy network map from genie app and add what device is connected to what unit 4. Copy traffic meter from genie app 5. Give the option to change the home screen from the ssid and passwordWhy no consolidated Orbi app?
Got my new Orbi system up and running and so far, it beats our Gen1 eero and the Amplifi I just returned. Throughput is amazing. HOWEVER the software experience is TERRIBLE. eero and Ammplifi have a simple app that does it all (easily). There's the orbi ios app, netgear genie for some things, openDNS logins for parental controls, etc. Why isn't there a single app that works at home or away and lets you control all settings in one place? That's the one thing I miss about my eero... everything in one (clean) app.Orbi loosing Internet Connection
I have had my Orbi RBK50 for a week or so. It is set in AP mode with my Comcast modem/router as my primary router. I am very frustrated that the Orbi keeps losing internet connectivity, sometimes once a day, sometimes 10 times a day, requiring a reboot. When it works it works GREAT, but I can't really stand the fact that it is constantly going down. Meanwhile, the WiFi from my Comcast modem router never goes down. I want the throughput and the range of the Orbi, but it is totally unreliable. The firmware is the latest version (2. something). I see from the community message boards that this is a regular problem with a lot of folks, with no resolution. Right now I want my old Airport Extreme routers back (I used two--one to establish the network and the other to extend the network). The problem with the Airport WiFi was that the speed at the end of the WiFi network was terrible, whereas when it is working the Orbi blazes. Having said that the Orbi is totally unrelable. Right now I have most of my WiFi devices hooked into the Comcast WiFi because I can't count on the Orbi to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.Orbi WiFi System - Had Enough
I bougt the Orbi system back in Jan, I also got 2 sats. I have had nothing but daily disconnects where I had to reboot router to get it to work. I stayed the course and waited through firmware update after firmware update. Internet is CRUCIAL to my business and this week I snapped. I returned the Orbi and got a Linksys Velop. 100% difference night and day. I have had Netgear routers my whole life, sorry I had to leave :-(
