I just had to switch out my router fora new one. Same router model, but different version. Now i can't login through the Genie app. I get the error "login failed. Please re enter correct admin password for netgear router" I didn't change anything with the login info. So it's just "admin" and "password. I've reset the router and deleted and reinstalled the app twice. I'm on an iPhone 6 Router is a R6300 v.1 Former router was v.2 (I know) I appreciate any help. I had used a R6300 v1 router with an old cable modem, Motorola SB5100, for over 4 years without any problem. A couple of weeks ago, the internet LED on R6300 went out. I thought it might be an ethernet cable problem and tried different cables, both straight and crossover. The light went back on, but stayed at amber color. Of course, there was not internet connection between the modem and the router. As an emergency measure, I pulled out an old 54G router and connected it to the cable modem with a different straight ethernet cable. I got the internet back. So the cable modem was still OK and the original yellow Netgear ethernet cable was broken for sure. Out of curiosity, I connected the WAN port on the R6300 to a LAN port on the 54G router with an ethernet cable. Surprisingly, the internet LED on R6300 became green and I had internet connection again on R6300 router, both wired and wireless. Either straight or crossover ethernet cable worked this way. Now, I'm basically using the 54G router as a switch for R6300. While this setup works, I am wondering what could be wrong with my R6300 router. Is the original yellow Netgear ethernet cable somthing special? Or, there is a hardware problem inside the router.Solved5.2KViews0likes10CommentsR6300-AC1750 Router doesn't connect to CM600
My R6300 Router will not connect to my new netgear CM600 cable modem. The internet light remains amber. I've done the appropriate power down/reboots on the modem and router with no success. I've done the MAC spoofing of the address of the computer that I used to set up the CM600 on the R6300 with no success. I can connect directly to the CM600 modem with a laptop and internet is fine (the modem is activated with my ISP). Firmware is up to date on all equipment. Additionally the router connects to my CM400 without issue and connected to a previous CM600 before its WAN port died. Does anyone have thoughts as to what I should try next to troubleshoot this?Solved7.7KViews0likes16CommentsR6300 Ethernet slow connection
This router has worked great for the past three years. I have a new ISP (Grande Communications) getting 400 Mbps and now all of a sudden the Ethernet ports out of the 6300 router are almost half of what comes out of the modem (Arris DG2470). I've tried all of the router ethernet ports with the same result. I updated the router with the latest firmware three days ago. Tried two new cat 6 cables from the modem to the router and PC. I've tested on multiple computers with the same results. Yet still only get around 180+ Mbps wired out of the router, but am getting 400+ out of the modem. Cat6 from modem to router is six feet. There is only one ethernet cable out of the router plus no active wireless devices devices when I test. The wireless on the Arris modem is disabled so there is no conflict. I would prefer sticking with a seperate wireless instead of using the wireless on the Arris modem. Plus I use OPEN DNS for family site filterning. (I did a test disabling OPEN DNS with both Google DNS and ISP DNS servers with same results. I also have two TIVO mini, but they are using the MoCA connection off the modem (not wifi). The Internet and cable TV come into the house on two seperate feeds. Grande recently installed fiber in my neighborhood, that's why I left Time Warner who only offered 50Mbps. Many time the wireless speed is faster than the wired ethernet. Go figure. I haven't called the cable company yet as they do not support seperate routers. I suppose I could use their wireless (built into the modem) but prefer having more control over my network. I'm at a loss as to why this problem occured and need advice on other options to troubleshoot. Thank you in advance for your comments.Solved
