Hello NETGEAR Community, I want to connect several PoE-enabled devices to a network switch, and I got GS308PP recommended. Main Purpose: Surveillance IP PoE-enabled 4K cameras as "CCTV" solution. Therefore, the features I need for any network switch (at least) are: 1. IP addresses automatically provissioning (DHCP server embedded). 2. Gigabit speed. 3. PoE (I don't know how much max power is required) ** No VLANs, QoS are needed. 1. Does this model meet these requirements ? 2. What is the best recommendation for me based on my need ? Your advice is welcome. LeMike2.3KViews0likes6CommentsA point in right direction to educate myself on UnManaged switch
I'm new to the switch thing and I bought a GS108V4 to add more lan lines and to run another wireless access point. I'm hung up on not wanting to run a straight line and want to make 3-4 separate groups. I have 3 lan off my wifi6 router but only want to use 2. Should I use my switch in-between the modem and router or use a older router as a switch in-between the 2? And I really don't know much about managed and unmanaged but from what I have read on so far I'm thinking I bought the wrong one thinking I was able to put different securities on the unmanaged switch I thought the managed had all the security preloaded on it can you still mess with the security on and on managed switched through an IP? I can't seem to figure out how somebody keeps getting into my network even with nothing hooked up to any internet and changing my system and apps as hope and throwing a switch on there in a few access points and separate and things might solve the problem. Thanks in advance.Solved1.5KViews0likes4CommentsMS108UP and 802.1Q tags
I will be setting up a network for a friend who wants an isolated guest Wi-Fi network using 4 WAPs since his apartment has a big steel column in the middle of it. Since we want to isolate it, we want to create a dedicated VLAN and SSID for this network, which the WAPs (Netgear WAX630e) support. To power his WAPs (and make cable management a little easier) I am using a POE++ switch (Netgear MS108UP or MS108EUP) to inject power and provide. The question I have is if the WAPs send frames with 802.1q tags and I use the MS108UP (the unmanaged switch), what will happen?722Views0likes1Comment
