Setup
9 Topics{X8 R8500 AC5300 & X6S EX8000 AC3000 Extender} Lost my 5G-2 radio?
The initial install was "sweet" -- I invited my boss over, to show and tell, and won him over to upgrade himself. Then I started rearranging the beast and cables to take advantage of the local work flow and messed things up.... The initial X8 R8500 AC5300 was a flawless 2.4Ghz & 2x5.0Ghz (5G and 5G-2). During the initial attach of the X6S range extender, the setup recommended I use the 5G-2 and a channel between >100. Cool.... All latest firmware, flawless mesh, intelligient QOS, one Happy Camper.... Somehow while rearranging "The Beast" (my fond name for this router), the 5G-2 connection to the her is almost impossible to connect to (times out). Only one device (a MacBook Pro) located close to The Beast could acquire 5G-2. It was at this stage where I believe I confused the X8 R8500. Sure hope I didn't break anything..... It was 2am and I was able to get {X8 R8500 AC5300 <---> X6S EX8000 AC3000} running with 2.4GHz and 5G (not the 5G-2) working (all with latest firmware). I am here.... I would like to recover the 5G-2 out of the router as the setups suggested better robustness/performance. As far as factory resets, I've only done so with the X6S EX8000. Didn't try such with the X8 R8500. I acquire wifi hardware about once every 10-15 years, admittedly not as proficient as I should be, and mighty pleased with how far the support s/w has come. Simply need some help getting back to what I think will be the setup to carry me through. Sorry if I got any lingo wrong. Me and The Beast....1.1KViews0likes1CommentEX6100 unable to register account
Just upgraded my extenders firmware but I am now unable to login to the extender router setup menu. Tried factory reset a couple of times, different browsers (wireless from iPad / Safari, wired with Explorer 10, Chrome) but I cannot get past the Account registration meny. First I get the splash screen "New Extender setup". Then I get the Register new account page - (note I run Swedish language); - Filling in a password twice for the "admin" account - Filling two password recovery questions After completing the last response to recovery question number two, I was expected the button "Next" at the bottom of the screen to change colour so it becomes clickable. No such think happens, regardless of whoich browser I use. Basically, I tried this a couple of time without success, now it seems stuck I cannot access the mywifiext.net setup menu at all. Any hints are much appreciated3.2KViews0likes1CommentPassword for network does not work on extender
I recently bought a NETGEAR Mini N300 Mbps Wi-Fi Range Extender with External Antennas (Wi-Fi Booster) (EX2700-100UKS) from Amazon. It has connected fine to our router but when I input the router password and try to connect with it from my laptop or mobile it does not work. On the iphone it says that the password is incorrect but it is definitely the right password for the router. Has anyone had this problem and managed to resolve it? Thanks3.4KViews0likes3CommentsCan never get to www.mywifiext.net
I have just purchased this extender less than 2 weeks ago.It worked great up till 2 days ago.Now when my signal drops between 4 to 6 times a day. When I try to go to another netgear site it tells me I,m not connected. How are we suppose to get these set up properly if we can never get onto the web site?I have tried IE,Google Chrome, and Firefox.I cleared my cookies, history, cache, and everything else. And still nothing. It just keeps saying either My firewall is stopping it or I am not connected to the internet and to rest the page which never works.Mcafee does not have certain web sites that are blocked.Only something called netguard, and when I turned that off I was hit with tons of pop ups in seconds. Is there anything else I can try before taking this thing back?Thank You3.2KViews0likes4CommentsExisting Customer Unable to Assign AC2200 Login Passwords
I was able to set up my brand new AC2200 per the enclose dinstructions and then move it physically to our garage where my son has his PC, phone and a bunch of other devices he wants to connect with a strong signal. It worked well from the get-go. Actually GREAT on both 2.4 Ghz and 5.0 Ghz bands. A huge signal boost. Much more than I expected. However, out of the box the AC2200 comes configured "wide open". No paswords required to connect. So anybody driving down our street now has acccess to all the devices on our private network. To state the obvious, this is not proper at all and even sort fo dumb from a customer relations perspective. But that's the way it is. Yes, that's fixable by running additional setup after the initial install. But the gotcha' here is that when I ran the app at www.mywifeext.net while contected to the new extended wifi network, by clicking on the NEW EXTENDER SETUP button, it wanted me to create an new NetGear account. This is the only web page option provided. So what wrong with that? Well, I have at least a dozen other NetGrear devices, including an active NetGrearWNDR4500v2 wifi router that I am extending from. I've previously set these devices up, registered most of them them, and registered myself on the customer support and support forum using the only public email address I have. So here I didn't need to setup a new account, I needed to log into my existing NetGear account. Regardless, I did try and use my info over again, to register yet again within the process. Several times in fact. But an "INVALID REQUEST" error message appeared each time after I entered all the info on my phone (I had to use my phone since my PC is hard wired rather than wifi) via the usual long, painful process. I believe it's safe to hazard a guess here: The web app threw up because I'm already setup and the app won't let me use my email address again. (And yes, a more informative message would have been helpful too.) Anyway, next I clicked the back bottom in my broswer (Andriod Chrome), and then unexpectedly, the opporutnity to login into my existing NetGear account did appear. Wow! This feature wasn't documented, but this looked like a hopeful sign. But alas, after I entered my existing login credentials, which I believe were accepted, the web session hung "forever" while displaying a screen message along the lines "wait a moment..." (probably not those exact words). I tried the process several times, from fresh browser sessions, also using Andriod Firefox, with exactly the same results. I also logged into my Netgear account NetGear Support (which is how I'm submitting this email) and reassiged my password to make sure this was not an issue. Still no cigar. So here's my question: Given I'm an existing NetGear customer. How to I access the Ac2200 setup so I can assign password protection on both new wifi bands created by my AC2200 extender, and do this without setting up another Netgear account? I'm going to leave this device up overnight, to my son's delight. But if this isn't solveable by tomorrow I'm going to unplug the darned thing and return it to Amazon. Too bad too, it is potentially a trully oustanding product. Note to NetGear product management: Besides fixing the web app snafu, this product should come pre-configured from the factory like your routers. With a default user name and a default password. Frankly I'm dumbfounded that this is not already being done.Solved4.6KViews0likes1CommentImpossible to configure EX6150 as access point
While setting up my EX6150 as an acces point, the initial configuration seems to be OK and I can connect to the internet (unsecure/NETGEAR_5GEXT). But whenever I try to configure it with following the link www.mywifiext.net and I start to input my E-mail and answer the security questions, the internet connection breaks down and I cannot complete the registration. Other computers (connected to ethernet) still have stable internet access. I already tried multiple different devices (laptops and mobiles) with the same result. My configuration: Router: AVM Fritz!Box 6490 Cable Switch: Netgear ProSAFE GS108Ev3 --> Ethernet conncted computers, TV... Hardware Version: WN3000RPv3 Firmware Version: V1.0.2.24 Howdy, My WiFi extender is only seeing 2G networks (including mine) when I go through a fresh setup via http://www.mywifiext.com/. But I'm trying to connect to my 5G network, like I do with several other devices. The setup process doesn't show any 5G networks. My router is broadcasting the 5G network name and has these settings: Mode: 802.11 n/ac Transmit Power: 100% Channel Selection: Automatic Channel: n/a Channel Bandwidth: 20/40/80(auto) Is this extender not 5G compatible? Any suggestions? Thank you in advance!Solved39KViews0likes2CommentsEX6100 wifi extender set up troubles
Hi I've been trying to install the range extender without much success. the genie didn't start up, so connected directly and went in through 192.168.1.1. Had trouble with passwords, but thought I worked it out, There was no check box allowing me to use the same security settings. Can I have a different password on the extender from the router? Still couldn't access any wireless devices properly. had all green lights, but no internet and each item required a login and password - would it be admin/password? What happens if I don't connect them all before clicking continue (page 11 of set up guide) Can they be connected later? This morning tried again, still no internet access, and couldn't get an windows device to connect to the network at all through the extender. Went through the factory reset then updated firmware bypassing genie. Now it wants me to sign in but won't accept admin/password. What do I do now? (I'm tempted to throw it away, but a waste of money). All I wanted was something to plug in which would make the existing wireless network stronger at the other end of the house.3.7KViews0likes1Commentwn2000rpt
Last night while I was sleeping my Internet extender stopped working. I use It to connect my tower to the wifi and I need it for homework tonight. Anyway, when I woke up all lights were green except the top one, which was red. I've had a ton of issues with this thing already so I just factory reset it without trying anything else. I'm going through the setup process with a laptop and right at the end it says my wifi has disappeared and to move it closer. The wifi was still working as my phone was still connected to it during the install. This has happened 6 times in a row and I've tried turning the main wifi on and off with no results. The wifi is some type of motorola modem btw. Any ideas on how to fix it? Network dignostics say that "the remote device or resource wont accept the connection"3.2KViews0likes1Comment
