Time Machine
3 TopicsTime machine doesn't recognise my hard disk connected to my Netgear router
My Time machine suddenly not seeing the hard disk connected to my Netgear router. A littl eover a year ago I have purchased the Netgear R7000 router and connected an external hard disk to it and shared out so that my Time machine can use it for backup my Mac. All in a sudden, my Time machine tells me that the backup failed due to couldn't find the backup drive. I then tried to mount the drive on my mac and have successfully mounted and see all the files on the hard disk. I then open up Time machine and try to select this hard disk again as the backup disk but it doesn't come up in the available backup disk list. Had anyone encountered this issue before?Solved852Views0likes1CommentR7500 maximum file size corrupting backup drive
I purchased a R7500 recently to use with Apple Time Machine; only after I bought it did I find the FAQ stating it only supports files under 500 GB :smileyindifferent:. I have a computer whose backup sparseBundle is over 500 GB. The 500 GB file size limit on the R7500 is causing hard drive corruption and has already corrupted the drive twice beyond repair causing me to have to reformat it. Is this going to be fixed in a not-to-distant firmware release or do I have to return this device?Solved3.4KViews0likes3CommentsWNDR3700v5 Apple TimeMachine support
Hello, acording to official user's manual for WNDR3700v5 (http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/WNDR3700V5/WNDR3700v5_UM_12Jan2015.pdf – page 65) is possible use this router for backing up via Apple Time Machine (via Apple Filling Protocol – AFP). So I've bought it, but unfortunatelly I cannot connect using afp://readyshare (even router has not opened port 548 which is necessary for AFP (tested via system Network Utility app – portscan). I do all things which Netgear support advise me (re-flash firmware, hard reset, downgrade firmware) but nothing help. Finally I download available source code for WNDR3700v5 from official Netgear site, but there missing netatalk package for support AFP protocol! So why Netgear lie in their documentation about support Apple Time Machine in this router? Is possible enable AFP support in this router (unofficial firmware, compiling official FW from source code with AFP support – whatever)? Thank your for any adviceSolved
