Unmanaged Switch
5 TopicsXS508M Crashed. No Longer Have Any Confidence in This Device
My XS508M stopped working whilst I was away for work which is when I need my office network working reliably so caused me a lot of issues. Basically I use this as my main switch. My WAN router and my NAS (which hosts a number of key services) connect to it. All other switches, servers and clients are off that switch, so the loss of that switch meant all other LAN traffic stopped, as well as no incoming internet traffic which was what knackered me. When I returned and started my investigation, I was careful not to do anything that might lose the root cause so I fired up a laptop (no DHCP), set a static IP and then tried to connect to different appliances/devices. It was clear the XS508M was dead, anything connected to it was down and as it is unmanaged, nothing else I could do but unplugging/reconnected the AC lead, which immediately resulted in the entire LAN coming back to life and being contactable from the WAN once more. Since it is unmanaged I obviously cannot get any logs, cannot upgrade/downgrade the FW, what else can I do to determine the cause? Has anyone has this with a XS508M? Is this an unreliable switch? If it is not totally reliable, I will need to replace it, what a waste of money. What else should I use?86Views0likes7CommentsCustom Ingress/Egress Rates for GS308E
Model Version: GS308E Firmware: V1.00.11EN OS: Windows 11 Request: Allow users to manually enter rates for Ingrees/Egress. At this time, one can only select between several presets, from 512Kbit/s to 512Mbit/s. Ideal solution: Users should be able to enter rates manually. Use case scenario: My internet speed is 15Mbit download and 0.5Mbit upload. When someone uses Wifi in the household, my Ping jumps in games. I got a GS308E to limit usage, but found out that the lowest limit I can use for ingrees is 512Kbit/s, which is still more than I have with my provider. As a result, when someone uploads something my ping goes up to 700-900ms. Also, I would like to limit egress to 5Mbit/s, and I can only select between 4 and 8. It seems like a pretty basic feature to have, so I'm hoping this can be introduced in a future firmware update, especially the lower limit for ingress. Thank you!1.3KViews0likes2CommentsNeeds separate usage limit in Orbi SRK60
I am posting this for my organization If there an option set separate usage limit for montly for every user by the help of MAC ids then no one do not misuse the internet in a firm. Otherwise in a firm some one uses most and others don't. So the traffic limit expires. The admin can't identify who is misused it. And we get a separate usage details daliy with the help of MAC ids. Plz add this option too if its possible.1.8KViews1like0CommentsAbility to change web UI port and disable the UI on GS108v3
The firmware release notes for the GS108v3 state that the web UI works by monitoring all traffic on port 80, and that when flow control is enabled thoughput may be effected. On my switch the throughput is reduced all the way down to around 20Mbps! I think there should be an option to allow the user to change the web UI port to one that is not likely to have much traffic and even an option to completely disable the web UI. To make the switch more plug-and-play friendly I also think the default UI port should be changed to something like 84 or have flow control disabled by default.6.7KViews0likes0Comments
