WAN Failover Functionality for RBE970 Router
I would like to propose an essential feature enhancement for the BE27000 Mesh WiFi System (RBE973SB) Router, one of the top-tier solutions for home WiFi. Given the increasing number of people working from home, a reliable and uninterrupted internet connection has become crucial. I suggest implementing WAN failover functionality that would allow one of the LAN ports to be configured as a secondary WAN port. This would enable users to connect to a backup internet source, such as fibre or LTE, ensuring automatic failover in case the primary connection goes down. This feature would significantly enhance the reliability of home networks, providing users with seamless connectivity and preventing disruptions during critical work, video conferencing, and streaming activities. Considering the RBE970's premium positioning, adding this functionality would further solidify its reputation as the ultimate home WiFi solution. Amazing Orbi, Orbo Pro, Nighthawk Routers, DSL Routers, Mobile Routers have service blocking (only for IPv4 why ever) - limiting the LAN -> Internet access (why ever somebody want to do this) but there is no control to manage firewall rules for Internet/WAN -> LAN. When can we expect a workable UI ot manage firewall rules for IPv4 and IPv6 LAN->Internet and Internet/WAN->LAN please? And then support for a ISP changing IPv6 prefix (ie. if the ISP does change the IPv6 prefix because they use rapid deployment (6rd) where the prefix is linked to the IPv4 address. And every time a user is seeking or this the Netgear mods reply to use Service Blocking - what of course does not work for WAN/Internet -> LAN. AbhayB NaderAAllow Custom DHCP Settings
My Orbi 770 mesh was not cheap. In fact, it was expensive. I purchased it right after it was released. I use pi-hole to block ads AND manage local DNS. The problem is that the Orbi's DNS proxy will not forward the unqualified or ".local" qualified names internally to my pi-hole server. In addition, I have had some intermittently flaky behavior on resolving some DNS names, specifically Docker Hub. I have tried multiple workarounds, nothing works. Please don't tell me to manually manage my DNS configurations on all of my clients. That's unreasonable. Please don't tell me to offload my DHCP to my pi-hole node. I don't want to mess with needing to stand up a DHCP node for my guest network. This should be simple enough. Why, oh why, can there not be an advanced config option to manually adjust the client parameters provided by the Orbi DHCP server? Have a checkbox that allows you to go in and directly change the primary and secondary DNS servers. It seems straight-forward to me; but I admit I don't have to manage the firmware code base. If it is too much, please tell me with a reasonable explanation as to why that is the case. Please consider my request. I know there are others Orbi users out there in the same boat.
Hide SSID password on router home page
Netgear, please DO NOT DISPLAY the WiFi passwords in the clear for the primary and guest networks on the default Basic -> Home page of the http://orbilogin.com web interface. The passwords should not be displayed on this page at all, instead it would be more helpful to display the encryption being used on both the Primary and Guest WiFi networks for this status page. Please correct this security issue! The password can still be shown when uncovered on the WiFi Settings pages if needed, else it should only show *********** to hide the SSID password. There is absolutely NO REASON to display PASSWORDS IN CLEAR TEXT on the home page!RS series routers auto 5 Ghz band channel selection algorithm tuning
The auto 5 Ghz wifi band selection algorithm picks up DFS channels in a crowded wifi neighborhood. The DFS channels have lower transmit power then the non DFS channels in the 5 Ghz band. This impacts the range and perfomance of the router due to the lowered signal strength. Please tune the auto channel selection algorithm in the 5 Ghz band to select a non DFS least congested channel for better range, performance and compatibility with older clients.eSim for Nighthawk wlan router
Are there plans to equip a mobile Wi-Fi router, e.g. the Nighthawk, with an eSIM? We equip streamers and content creators with mobile devices. Many of them are on the move and cross national borders quite often (e.g. every two weeks). It is tedious to find the respective telephone provider in each country, obtain the physical SIM card and install it, when there are already simpler solutions available, such as providers like Saily, which make the change much easier. We are currently planning to convert another vehicle and equip it with the appropriate Wi-Fi availability.Enable client-side MLO on RS600 (Wi-Fi 7)
Product: RS600 (Nighthawk Tri-Band Wi-Fi 7) Feature request: Enable Multi-Link Operation (MLO) for client devices. This idea is to enable client‑side Multi-Link Operation on the RS600 so that phones and laptops which support Wi‑Fi 7 with MLO (e.g. iPhone 17 Pro) can use a single SSID that bonds the 5 GHz and 6 GHz radios. Apple, Qualcomm and other vendors highlight MLO as a key feature of Wi‑Fi 7 to reduce latency and improve throughput. Netgear’s own materials mention MLO on the Nighthawk Wi‑Fi 7 series, but so far there is no way to enable it on the RS600. Why it matters: – Competing brands (e.g. ASUS ROG/ZenWiFi, TP‑Link) already have MLO working for clients. – Netgear’s Orbi 970/370 mesh uses MLO on the backhaul, demonstrating that the underlying hardware and firmware can support it. – Devices like the iPhone 17 Pro, Galaxy S24 Ultra and recent laptops support MLO. Without MLO enabled on the router, those devices can only connect to a single band at a time. Environment / version: RS600 running firmware v1.0.5.12 (August 2025) in France. Case number 49306330 is already open with support regarding this issue. I would love to help test a beta firmware and provide Speedtest results showing the difference between single‑link and MLO. Please consider enabling client‑side MLO on RS600 and adding an option to configure it in the web/mobile UI.realtime bandwidth monitoring by device
It would be great if you could see realtime bandwidth per device for the netgear r7000, similar to Google Wifi and Eero. It would be a really useful info and diagnostic tool to see what devices are currently taking up bandwidth. It would be great if this was added to the router web administration page as well theNetgear Genie and/or Netgear Up apps. I've attached a screenshot of how this feature looks on Google Wifi.
