Have multiple NETGEAR WiFi routers in office. Prefer to use the office DNS to access them for obvious reasons (e.g., 'PetersWifi' instead of trying to remember IPv4/6 internal addresses like '192.168.245.22', especially since DHCP occasionaly changes the addresses). Unfortunately, calling the embedded admin page on the R7800s by name produces '404' or a bad page (a single digit, usually '0'). The R7800s work if I use the net local IP (sends me to admin login popup). All the other routers (e.g., the R6300s) work as expected regardless of using name, IPv4, or IPv6. Updated to firmware V1.0.2.28, but still fails. 90 day support (these are new routers) requests have produced nothing but a run-around, disrespect, insulting answers ('The Interenet is not available in AP mode.') and refusal to take documentation of the problem. They posted the report to the support web app with the title 'Unable to access the genie page using routerlogin.net' -- so it appears that their '2nd level support expert' doesn't understand basic networking concepts. So i turn to the community for help... anyone? * * * two WIFI access points on this network. One is called “R6300v2” and the other is called “R7800”: log onto the R6300 using its name and a browser, like so: Which gets me to the web interface: on the Nighthawk, here’s what happens: But it WORKS when I just use the IPv4 address:Solved3.8KViews0likes6CommentsEnable Video Network X4S Nighthawk 7800
Hello, I have the Nighthawk X4S router. Trying to get the best network reliability I can for streaming wirelessly from a Plex server (local server connected via ethernet cord directly to router). What in the world is the TRUE definition of the "Enable Video Network" feature on this router? The manual pushes the definition with the understanding, at least my understanding, this mode is intended for GUESTS. Is it only beneficial for guests (given I allow guest mode)? So bigger question, does this help my steaming capabilities on my private encrypted network...or only for guests logged on to the guest network (if guest mode was activiated that is)? OR, Should I enabled both the Guest mode/network AND check the box "Enable Video Network" and keep my streaming devices connected to the Guest network to get the best speeds for streaming video content? Hi All, As I was trying to identify the best 5G Wifi Channel to use, I found what "may" be a bug in firmware. Using any of firmware versions: V1.0.0.40, V1.0.0.30, V1.0.0.28 In Wifi Channel Setup - I choose "Europe" as region - then if I change 5G channel, then I have following timings before the 5G signal becomes visible in my devices (Chromecast 2 and Galaxy S6 Edge+). Channel 36-44: My devices connects after 30 seconds. Channel 52-64: My devices connects after 90 seconds. Channel 100-112: My devices connects after 90 seconds. Channel 116-128: My devices connects after 360 seconds (~ 11 minutes). Channel 132-140: My devices connects after 90 seconds. Interestingly if I swich region to use "Japan" region (which has same setup as Europe) - then max waiting time before signal appears is 90 seconds. Also for channel 116 to 128. This may be a bug (an odd bug indeed) in my device only - but it may as well be a general bug in the firmware. Before sending my devices in for a replacement/repair, I wanted to check if any of you guys see same issue: TEST STEP: 1. In router configuration do following: 2. Set region to "Europe". 2. Change 5G channel to 128. 3. Hit apply. 4. Measure time before you see the signal appearing in your mobile device. Try optionally with Channel 112 for reference as well.Solved5.2KViews0likes4Comments
