boot problem OS6 on legacy

Pro 6 (6.6.0 beta 2 - T117 ) turning on but stuck at booting with only ReadyNAS ons panel. Boot menu. When I powered the NAS on it would not boot. It said ReadyNAS on the LCD, there was no link light on the NIC, RAIDar could not get to the unit. not visible in the router DHCP table anymore (tried both LAN's) The only thing that changed was that we had a power outage last week. I did need to not acces the unit so I did not immediately corelate with that, but that's the onbly thing that I can think of. When I power on my Pro 6 (6 disks; ReadyNAS OS 6.6.0) the LED panel shows "ReadyNAS" and nothing much was happening. I tried to access the boot menu but it doesn't work. I tried it also without the disks, still not accesible. I tried to do a USB recovery (tried 5 USB sticks, all formated with the recovery utility, but it doesn't work either. I opened the case and the LED 1 on the motherboard is lit red (normal ? or it shows a defectve something ?) I can not check the memory or disks becaus I can not get in the boot menu. I do not have a VGA header cable (should I get one?) What are my next options. I have a lot of data on it. warranty expired two years ago. I read on the forums that it may be a power supplyu issue (makes sennse in the context of the power outage - I am in Quebec - happens fairly often). Because if , let's say the disks are bad, it shpud have gotten into boot menu when I had no disks in the unit. I always had beta versions, and got stuck only once (troubleshooted by mdgm - thanks again). The unit is built like a tank. I do also hae a 8 bay synology, because it was cheaper, but the netgear has more ooomph though being older. Since I first got my first irfant NV I was always happy with my ReadyNAs units. PS. geting a 300 series would be just a disk swaping thing I assume (worse case scenario in case I can not fix the unit) I am familiar with building a PC, I did upgrade the CPU and case fans to the Noctua silent one (not the source though - too many things to unscrew and unplug - maybe I shoud have in hindsight ?) Can I buy a power source form netgear with the right molex connectores so I do not have to hack a SFX one ?3.6KViews0likes13Comments
